I'm impressed, that is a lovely quilt. My hand piecing is so very SLOW.

To help keep your ruler from slipping get some of the sandpaper dots you stick on the under side of the ruler. They will keep it from slipping.

Good luck with your machine search.

What a pretty quilt. You are to be commended for sewing it all by hand. I don't even like to sew the binding by hand.

Take some fabric with you to try out the machines. They usually only have very stiff samples.

You go girl !!!! Try out several different brands and research research research ! I loved several but went with the Bernina aurora 430 as I'm, also a beginner and loved the one my patient wonderful teacher had and allowed me to use ! Don't know if or when I would want a machine that could do more but, never say never ! Plenty to learn and use 1st with this one though ! When you take the classes to learn your new machine there are plenty of feet etc to purchase as well so...... Maybe waiting for Christmas is a good idea !! Enjoy

Great first quilt!! As far as sewing machines, buy what you can afford for now. Invest in a good 1/4" foot and a walking foot! A basic machine will do all you need to make a quilt. Welcome to the wonderful world of quilting!! :D
