GailG, your question wasn't 'lame'. I had the same question when I looked at Ginnie's quilt. She answered both of us very nicely. I have a few small blocks I can use the same technique on. Thank you both, Ginnie and Gail!

I love the way you are sharing that family history with others. My father died of Alzheimers. Even if your grandmother doesn't specifically remember making the blocks, she will likely enjoy the graphic interest the pattern creates. And she'll feel your love for her, even if she can't acknowledge it.

Long time homeschool mom here and the ONLY lame question is the one that isn't asked! Thank you all for your kind words! Its encouraging! I finished enough blocks to put another Sue lapquilt together last night. My goal is to have 3 lapquilts ready by Christmas. I have the next 9 layed out and pinned to the squares too. So I think I will make it! After I finish those 3 I only have 4 more to go...those will be for my girls. I think that when I am done I will be so tired of Sue! I've decided that I love the cutting and putting together but the applique gets old real fast. I did try doing on piece on interfacing and turning it. Didn't like it at all. The only interface I had though was heavy so that might make a difference?
