I'm new to the site ...just posted an intro. This is the first quilt I made. There is a story behind it too. Over 30 years ago my grandmother made about 10 squares of Sunbonnet Sue and then my grandfather died and she put them away and never finished them. When we cleaned her house for her to go to a nursing home I found them. I kept them just for sentimental reasons as I remember her drawing the pattern out and working on them. This year I got the idea to make more squares and divide the ones Grannie made up and give my sisters and daughters a quilt with one of her squares in it. The first quilt I made went to Grannie though. The black and red sue is the one my Grannie made about 35 years ago.

That is so cute. I like the way you placed the feet...they appear to be walking. When I did mine "she just stood still!"
    Really a great job...for a 1st. Congratulations on a job well done!

Beautiful quilt, and story behind it! I bet Grannie had a few tears in her eyes when she seen it!

Fantastic idea - how lovely to share around Grannie's squares to the rest of the family too. I am sure they will all treasure them.

Thank you all! Grannie actually doesn't remember making it...she has Alzheimers and we're lucky at this point if she even remembers us. But I thought everyone else would enjoy having one and hopefully they will. I'm going to be a BUSY person as I'm trying to get a few done for Christmas.

What an amazing story! This quilt is darling, too.

So sorry to hear about your Grannie and the Alzheimer's. Have you ever read anything by Ami Simms? She is a quilt humorist whose mother also had Alzheimer's and she is very much involved with raising awareness of Alzheimer's. Here is her blog, just in case you are interested in reading about her. http://amisimms.wordpress.com/

Great quilt, and great story. I'm a big sentimentalist. I HOPE you put a label on your grannie's quilt - it'll matter a LOT down the road!!
