What a wonderful story! Now your fabric budget is going to double... of course that's not bad at all! Have fun because this is a rarity. Tell him he did good!

Well good for him! Nothing like an interesting and challenging activity to while away the winter hours. He's lucky to have you and that you're willing to share your love of quilting.

That is so cool one way to keep him busy and productive the quilt is gorgeous and you are incredible. Now you both will be buying fabric so much fun.

Looks like we are going down the same street. My husband was doing my cutting and he was so good at it. When I was doing a scrap quilt I noticed he was looking with interest. Ok, I let him touch my sewing machine and he is as good if not better than I. I have never wanted to let him do this as I would much rather have help with housework (: It seems like there is never enough time to enjoy my sewing. Retired men have far more relaxing time than women. I think it is time that we balance the load. This was nice when we gave our children jelly roll quilts as I could say "we" made it for them. In fact, I even took a picture of him at the sewing machine as proof. This is a good hobby for a retired machinist.

Barbgil....my DH is a retired ironworker/welder I guess using "machinery" is just second nature to them...haha.

We just finished making place mats and pot holders for our daughter in CA. I'll take some pics and post them. He did a good job with these, too.

I've read him all these comments and he is just blown away that there has been so much interest in his "beginner" quilt. Thanks so much ladies.

You have a terrific husband! Bored, and instead of sitting around complaining, asks if he can help sew! What a man! His quilt is great, too!
