Oh my gosh, she is so adorable! Your quilts are lovely.
I completely understand how you feel. Our daughter and her family live several hours away. When our first grandson was born, in January, she had to go back to work 6 weeks later. His other grandmother and I took turns babysitting him until the end of June, when her school year was done. I would drive down for 2 weeks, then home for a week, then back down for two more. Once summer came and I was no longer needed, it was rough!
Now we have our second grandson. He will be a month old on Thur. She will be home with him until late August, when I will go down and stay until Christmas! Our son in law's mother is no longer able to help out. I was a little surprised, but the "kids" (the adult kids - DD and S-I-L) feel that 9 mos was a good age for #1 to go to daycare and would like the same for the second. It will also save them considerable $.
In some ways, I anticipate it being difficult - they are very casual parents, the 2 yr old has very few rules to follow... It's hard to hold my tongue. At the same time, being with the boys every day, then not seeing them for long stretches, is so hard!
Since I have a 6 hour ride and you are across the country, I shouldn't complain. Thank goodness for e-mail, cell phones and Skype! I hope you are able to snuggle her soon.

Your grandmother duties are never over; your grand daughter will 'call' to you over the miles, and you will not be able to resist.
She is a cutie. The quilts are beautiful, but she outshines them a zillion times.

funny you would say something about holding your tongue...my DIL wanted to give Karlie and pacifier when I first visited California back in January and my son did not want her to have one. I did not say a word...
I figure I’ve raised my children, now it’s their turn to figure it out! LOL
