Yeah, you really need to go darker. Much darker. The brown (?) border is the same value as the lighter purple fabric and it's all reading as one big flat area.

Use whatever the background color of the floral fabric, but even darker if you can get it. A nice wide border - I love those. And then bind in the same fabric.

I always think lighter binding looks like wearing black stockings with white shoes. Not a great look. ;-)

Try a Moda Marble, a Bali 1895 Batik, a Dimple - something with a bit of texture to it....it doesn't have to be a solid fabric.

You can see the effect (value-wise) if you just take the brown border down you've got pinned up and see how it looks with the maroon fabric (not for the color but for the value).

The center blocks will really pop out off the much darker fabric.

At least you haven't sewn it on yet so no ripping.

The quilt is beautiful but I am not crazy about the border. I would go with a narrow light and maybe a darker wide.
It's lovely!!! Love that precious baby too! :D:D

Maybe a smaller border of the brown & then an outer border of the maroon print

I think I would like it better with the darker color first. Or maybe you could make a three piece border using say a strip of dark and strip of light and then another strip of dark.
