I have been quilting for a long time. This star block is my "go to" block when I needs to whip up something quickly. I love it! There are about a half dozen or so variations - all having to do with the center square. Slicing & dicing it up yields different looks, but all are so easy & fun to do. Each different center gives the block a new name. I just call it the Variable Star!

Congratulations on growing in your skills. Once you have discovered your new path, your journey will take you to all sorts of wonderful places. Try to visit them all!!!

good going girl keep up the good work cause you are right it is no big deal you can do anything you put your mind too if you try hard and long enough ( this is what I wa stold by my mother and granmother many yeas ago..Ha Ha Ha). I still do and if it turns out wrong or I have a mistake I go for it again and again and again until I try to master it or it masters me. good luck on your new adventure.....It is FUN

I beg to differ with you; It is Sooooooo a big deal. You will be soaring in no time. I was like that a year ago. I joined 2 Civil War BOM and we know it's mostly triangles of some kind. My blocks were supposed to be 6 1/2 in and the first ones turned out more like 5. I struggled with both of them all year trying to get the right. I just started a new BOM and was so impressed because I did a block that was kind of like one I struggled with last year and it was done in no time. I told my teacher the next night the fact that I could say it was easy was amazing and really proved to me how far I'd come. Keep on soaring; you are doing great; be proud of your self
