Do you like to color?? I trace the pattern on with graphite paper, onto the fabric. I use So Soft Paints by Deco Art and they are wonderful for quilting on them, thru them, or whatever. I am not a "draw-er"... at all. I look at the color photo and mix paints until I get the colors I need. If you enjoy coloring, that's really all this is, using acrylic paints.

This is going to be one wonderful quilt for your friend!!

And yes, please do keep posting the pics ... perhaps label each thread as you have with the Shoe #, for those who jump in in mid stream!

I used the old acrylic fabric paints and they were stiff as a board!! I promise you these are very soft, and wonderful to quilt. Look at the beautiful custom quilting around the painted irises, done by Peggy Barkle here in Atlanta

Those irises are beautiful ... now please show us the whole quilt!! I have a feeling it is an incredible work of art!

(I think I have the matching iris fabric.)

Here's a funny ... when I was reading the thread, the pop up advert at the bottom showed several pairs of shoes including one that's a mate with the one you painted .... except in blue! Weird, eh?
