Jaba, your round for this one is 6.5" because the last round that I added was 4.5" (well, actually 4 - I lost that 1/2" somewhere). There are some plain borders in there that are actually part of the center.

jaba 08-24-2013 03:32 PM

So I need to make mine at 7" finished ?? I need to go to the quilt shop and see if they have the same batik that is used in the center or it's going to end up black, yellow and green. I just don't think I'm even thinking today, pulled and pinched the sciatic nerve in my lower back again and hubby even had to put on my socks and pants on this morning. It's called pain killers and finally call the neurosurgeon on Monday. I'll have to give in I think, the steroid shots don't cut it anymore and they told me I'd had enough of them. I'll see if I can get in the car on Monday and go to town, couldn't today.

TheMamaHauser 08-24-2013 05:26 PM

I can send you the leftovers of what I used along with 2 other hand-dyed green & yellows that are similar but not the same - I will put them into the mail on Monday, ok?

I'll let you know Kelly I may be able to drive. If not maybe Brat can go look for me. Thank you so much, will get back to you

Nexxus831 08-24-2013 11:18 PM

I love it all. I also have lots of the yellow and greens left from the center if you want I can mail you some also. My favorite colors are green and yellow then hubby's is black. This will go on our king size bed so I am ok with whatever you wish to do.

Nexxus831 08-24-2013 11:21 PM

Jaba, I know all about the back issues. I have had three back surgeries on L4/L5/S1. The last one was to "shave down" bone spurs in the spinal column that is cutting off the nerves to my lower body. I am in constant pain but there isn't much else they can do because the shaving surgery is wayyyyy to risky anymore. I hope they can find a simple, safe and pain free fix for you

Elisabrat 08-25-2013 03:02 AM

I was thinking you wanted to stay with the greens and yellows... less of the blue part right? Jaba the quilt store is closed on Sundays and Mondays. I would gladly go pick something up for you on Tuesday however on the way home from dialysis.. boy is it no hardship going in there! I will also drive you on Monday if you need a ride Steve can help assist you down the stairs and into the truck honest no trouble so you don't fret about that. We can work that out :)
Love you girl.

jaba 08-25-2013 05:24 AM

Was trying to see is I could pull a little bit of the other colors out from the center but these all to much "in your face" of the other colors. The brighter and darker yellow strips with the black is okay but the batik is too blue. I'm sure I can find some green, so what do you think about using the kona black, the brighter darker yellow, a green and if you have some of the yellow print from the middle Melinda send that to me and I'll try to figure out a braid border to go all around it. That way the squares have stopped and think the next border after mine could go with about anything. Do you think that would look alright? Then I can make it at 7" and get it back to the right size---well hopefully.

Dragonfly Nana 08-25-2013 08:12 AM

Love your ideas Jaba - whatever you choose is going to look great.

If adding in the 1/2" is too difficult just let me know. Since my round is scheduled to be 4 1/2" it might be easier to make it up there.

Dragonfly Nana 08-25-2013 08:15 AM

Another thought - If you add a 1/2" strip of black first then you can add your regular 6 1/2" border.

jaba 08-25-2013 09:30 AM

another option

Just came up with this, the green is too dark in the braid and would sub it with the green on the bolt. If Melinda wants her yellow I can add that too, otherwise just bl, gr and yellow

Elisabrat 08-25-2013 09:57 AM

too dark green on the left too light in the middle.. time to go shopping :) lol ok you asked. Nexxus might disagree she is the one whose opinion counts the most I would think :) mine not so very much at all!

jaba 08-25-2013 10:00 AM

It probably looks to light but it's almost a perfect match to Melinda's and it matches the light shade in Kelly's. Maybe I need a darker anyway....a shopping I will go and find some purple too I bet!!

Dragonfly Nana 08-25-2013 11:18 AM

I love the braid and prefer the green on the bolt - I think it goes great.

Nexxus831 08-25-2013 11:41 AM

Ok Jaba I will send out my yellow and green fabrics on Monday. You can just keep them with the center and others can use it if they choose. Seriously I am perfectly happy with whatever you come up with.

jaba 08-25-2013 03:04 PM

Don't think I need the green but will pass it on. I just think you'll be happier if your "print" is on a couple of those borders too. I will go searching and if I find some I will buy it and add it to your package to send on. Thanks Melinda, will wait until it arrives, now I know exactly what I'm going to do!!!!Yahoo!!!

Dragonfly Nana 08-25-2013 06:35 PM

If I can match it I have a plan to use her yellow too.

Nexxus831 08-25-2013 07:11 PM

Ok I will get it out to you tomorrow Jaba

Elisabrat 08-26-2013 08:07 AM

tada see now everyone is happy!

Thanks for all the check ins Ladies. Now I know where we are all in the rounds. :)
Since I don't have a center to work on at the moment this is what I was working on this weekend - a request from my Aunt as a gift for a male relative of hers.
Only 8 more blocks to build then I can sew the rows.

Nexxus831 08-26-2013 04:49 PM

Oh I love the colors Paula....you are super nice to make this for your Aunt

jaba 08-26-2013 04:58 PM

Looks really nice, she'll love it

Elisabrat 08-26-2013 10:05 PM

That is very beautiful. What a lucky gift that is! Tomorrow I will bravely open up Kellys center that was sent by Dragonfly .. she did such a nice round I am living in trepidation on how to follow that up! lol I will let you know how it goes as I start up. a lot of woe is me stuff :) ok not that much. A learning thing for sure.

jaba 08-31-2013 08:52 AM

Nexxus, got your fabric today. Thank you so much now to decide on a border. Do you want me to send this back to you or on to the next person??

Nexxus831 08-31-2013 07:51 PM

Hi Jaba, just send it on to the next person to use if they wish. It can get difficult to match so having those might be a good way to help everyone do a border.

LETIA 08-31-2013 08:27 PM

I love it all.

Elisabrat 09-01-2013 04:12 AM

this is fun isn't it? there are so many options that I never thought of before I have always done boring borders (strips) and now I think .. wow these could really make a simple quilt POP. and put them all together and you have a unique quilt that is not like any other even better yet!

jaba 09-01-2013 05:05 AM

Nexxus spent yesterday sewing your border. Now to square it up and attach it. Hope to have a pic for you by the end of the day. Hope you'll like it.
Your hubby arrived Linda and now they are going to go play in the water....Yes miss I'm up, have been since 5 a.m.

It's all done Nexxus and will be in the mail to dragonfly on tuesday. Had some braid left so will put it in the bag too, just in case, or you might want to make a pillow for your bed so maybe it will come in handy. Hope you like this, I think your quilt is going to be awesome.I was going to take out the green and black "hang over" pieces and replace them with the yellows, but the more I looked at it the more I liked them there. If you'd rather have the yellow go all around tell me and I will change it before I send it on it's way.

Nexxus831 09-01-2013 06:06 PM

no Jaba I love it and so does the hubby. We could even put the extra from the braid on the back too. Thank you so much.

jaba 09-01-2013 06:50 PM

OOHHHH that's good with hubby's approval too. Want to see a pic of this one when you're done. I love your batik choice.

Annz 09-01-2013 07:18 PM

Wow July 2014. We'll have fun looking at the progress. Great so far.

Nexxus831 09-01-2013 11:12 PM

thank you Jaba it was actually my mother's batik that I snagged from her stash when I saw it. I will be sure to post pictures of it when it is done. Thank you so much for your addition.

Dragonfly Nana 09-02-2013 04:42 AM

Wow- I love how that turned out Jaba. I will have to put my thinking cap on to find the right way to follow your round.

Elisabrat 09-03-2013 01:36 PM

oh dear make yours REALLy busy lol Dragonfly so I can go simple.. how can I compete with all that??? you guys are amazingly good!

Dragonfly Nana 09-03-2013 02:22 PM

Oh no Brat - you don't get off that easy. IMHO it is MY row should be a bit simple to let the earlier beauty shine and set the stage for the next amazing round!

Nexxus831 09-03-2013 03:37 PM

I agree with you DragonFly

PecksPieces 09-03-2013 03:43 PM

Wow, what a great way to start!!! Can't wait to see them grow. Everyone is doing such nice work!

Dragonfly Nana 09-03-2013 04:06 PM

Thanks Melinda.

jaba 09-03-2013 04:24 PM

Sent it today and on it's way. Now I need another one. Would love a pic of mine haven't seen it in awhile....
