Just finished sewing this together this morning!!

I texted my daughter last night (who the quilt is for) and told her I only had two seams to do. Then I remembered about the row of black-on-black batik 4-patch that I was going to put ALL around the outside. Darn!!! I don't know if I want to do anymore!

The pattern is called Faceted Jewels though I didn't use a pattern. Saw one on an Amish quilt site and figured it up from that.

That is beautiful. If it is the size you wanted then I think it could be finished although I am sure the border you had in mind would look wonderful.

pittsburgpam 03-23-2011 08:49 AM

My daughter has a full size bed, which is 54"x75". The quilt right now is 68"x89". If I add the other rows it will be 76"x97".

babyboomerquilter 03-23-2011 08:50 AM

Just a beautiful quilt!

Ditter43 03-23-2011 08:50 AM

What a beautiful quilt!! You are good to do that without the pattern!! I think it needs the borders to make it large enough. :D

boohoofish 03-23-2011 08:50 AM

This is one beautiful quilt!!!!!

the casual quilter 03-23-2011 08:50 AM

This is a beautiful quilt. It will look great with or without a pieced border.

QuiltingGrannie 03-23-2011 08:51 AM

I would leave it as it is.
It's beautiful!
Add black as the binding.

LastGrandma 03-23-2011 08:52 AM

Very beautiful quilt top and with no pattern! Such talent you have! I agree that if it is size you need the border you had planned would look great, but a simple dark border would work too! Just gorgeous!

pittsburgpam 03-23-2011 08:54 AM

Yes, I think I will leave it and use the jelly roll strips of the black for the binding instead. I think, but would have to figure it up again to be sure, that I don't have quite enough of the black to do all of the 4-patch blocks out of the strips.

Well, I did re-create the design in EQ7. :) It's mainly just squares and HSTs.

katier825 03-23-2011 08:58 AM

Looks awesome! What about a black batik border, then maybe a flanged binding adding in one of the other colors?

Cherylsea 03-23-2011 08:58 AM

What a marvelous job you did!! It is a stunning quilt. Will be wonderful regardless of what you do or don't do for borders. you daughter is very lucky.

seamstress 03-23-2011 08:59 AM

WOW it is beautiful. I love it.

blossom808 03-23-2011 08:59 AM

Wow you figured that out from a picture. GREAT JOB. It turned out BEAUTIFULL.

pittsburgpam 03-23-2011 09:01 AM

I've also thought about using long strips for the border. I'll have to see what I have. Maybe I'd have enough to do one row of strips and then use the rest for the binding.

TerryQuilter 03-23-2011 09:05 AM

Awesome

CoyoteQuilts 03-23-2011 09:08 AM

Beautiful! I love the 'fake' curves.....

Jim's Gem 03-23-2011 09:17 AM

It turned out absolutely gorgeous Pam!!!

0tis 03-23-2011 10:02 AM

AWESOME!!!

farscapegal 03-23-2011 11:06 AM

Don't stop now. It is gorgeous. Put the border on.

luvspaper 03-23-2011 11:56 AM

It will be gorgeous either way. I love it as it is now, but think borders would be beautiful too! I think it would be hard to go wrong at this point!

TwinRiverFarm 03-23-2011 12:01 PM

Stunning! I have just drooled all over the keyboard and rethought my next wish list!

pittsburgpam 03-23-2011 12:25 PM

I've also decided to quilt it in a Baptist Fan pattern. I got a set of longarm circle templates and watched a video on youtube about it.

Such tiny pieces and I'm not that good at longarm so an allover pattern is good for me. It will echo the circles in the design.

Kitsapquilter 03-23-2011 12:39 PM

WoW!! I love that pattern and I want to do one one of these days but I guarantee that I will have to use a pattern!! Yours is a beauty....love the color combo you used. I don't think you need another border. Since you already have pieced border there why don't you just add a plain border or two. Maybe a narrow lighter one and then your pretty black batik.

cuppi duke 03-23-2011 12:45 PM

I think you are done. I think the design is enough on its own. It is a beautiful quilt.

JoyVoltenburg 03-23-2011 12:46 PM

beautiful quilt!

Patty Patches 03-23-2011 01:16 PM

Melrose R 03-23-2011 01:17 PM

Stunning, just stunning. I love those colors and the pattern is to die for! Do you perhaps need another daughter? I'm available!

STunning, even though the colors are not my favorites!

intoquilting 03-23-2011 01:24 PM

I have watched as you began this quilt. I thought it was beautiful from the beginning. I absolutely love the colors. I know your daughter will love it.

Lindsey 03-23-2011 01:27 PM

It turned out great. I just love it. Now i really want one of these for me.

hperttula123 03-23-2011 01:34 PM

It's beautiful!!!

jillaine 03-23-2011 02:01 PM

Well, I don't know if you need a 9block as a border, but I think a border is really going to set this and finish this off nicely. My fear is that you would regret NOT doing it.

jillaine 03-23-2011 02:04 PM

btw, i *LOVE* your color choices throughout

QuiltnNan 03-23-2011 02:21 PM

It looks great the way it is. But do you need the extra rows to make the size right?
