Here are some pictures of my new wholecloth. The size is 75"x75", it's hand quilted and the patterns are needlemarked.
As soon as the winter is over I will take some pics of the complete quilt outside!
Hope you like it!

It's just gorgeous! I love to hand quilt as well and can certainly appreciate the time and skill this takes. You said the quilt top was "needle marked". I am not familiar with that method of marking. Could you please explain?

janceejan 01-25-2012 04:46 AM

CindyBee, you have a look in this thread where you can see some pictures of needlemarking:

It's done with a darning needle, you just "scratch" the patterns in the fabric. It works great for me on solid fabrics.

Absolutely beautiful. How long did it take to hand quilt it?

Thank you! I needed three months to finish this quilt. I do 6-8 hours of handquilting almost every day...

Your quilt is beautiful. I noticed you are from Schleswig Holstein. My DH's family originally came from there. We searched for them several years ago while in Germany....found lots of wonderful people but no luck finding relatives. Beautiful area!

The patterns I used are very traditional ones from northern England and found them in books. The spirals are drawn freehand. I marked them by myself, the top was not preprinted.
