I'll leave it be now - and go shopping soon and make sure I get generous amounts of fabrics so I can 'tinker' if needs be!

Don't apologise! I played the Cheshire Cat in our school play when I was about 12 so that's even quite appropriate! I think it's because there's such a big jump from the purple to pink? And the grey is so uniform? I plan on getting a pinky grey marble for the all grey sections so there's more interest there and getting the purples to pinks transistion SLIGHTLY smoother (not much as I think it's more interesting this way - I did one version with very graduated purples and it was really boring!)here I'm working with the EQ library fabrics so am a bit limited... :-D

Thanks everyone, I think I'll stick with version 13 and hope to get out to chose the fabrics for it in the next couple of weeks, then I'll post my progress. Fangs again for all your input. :D

jansquiltn 03-10-2011 01:55 AM

I would say ambitious to complete in such a short time. Love your design. I'm on the fence about EQ. Can't wait to view the final work of art.

Thanks - I am known to set myself difficult goals and if I don't finish in time, there's always next year.

Gorgeous! And complicated enough to keep you from getting bored. Ok - I posted this BEFORE I read the whole thread, so I'm going to finish reading and do some edits to keep this alive! Come back and read, because my comments are going to change!

IMHO the light block of the central 'medallion' (which you are avoiding) might look better if it was more of a CIRCLE than a square.

I have to agree with Gai - I still like v. 1 best - and my name suggestion is FangDangle ~ ~ ~

Final edit: WOW - without reading my input, you took my advice about rounding the central area! You're a GENIUS! and the fangs are gone, missing, eliminated! So we're left without a name.

This is going to be one fabuloso quilt. And you can make back all the time and money you're spent on it by entering it in money prize contests and eventually either selling it or selling patterns. Patent or copyright it IMMEDIATELY!!!

The colours are vague as well and might change once I get in an LQS but I'm thinking batiks... this would be for the contemporary section of the Festival of Quilts, which asked for a modern take on traditional quilting. Does this fit the bill? I thought to regular piece the LCs, PP the twisted, machine applique and FMQ to be decided... any comments gratefully received and when the design is finalised, I'd like to post progress so you can all nag, ermmm, I mean, ENCOURAGE me to finish it in time for August!

I think it's great. I especially love the twisted log cabins and color scheme.

Thanks for all that Joanne! And if I'm a genius then you are too! Name - how about 'Fangs for the Memories'?!

I'm considering drawing up and selling this as a pattern as soon as I've made it myself... and I think my copyright is automatic isn't it? Besides I can't stop dishonest ppl from copying this, or even from 'sharing' the pattern when I finally have it for sale - such is life, sadly! :? :-)

Thank you. I'm going out to buy my fabrics tomorrow and hoping to get some yummy pinky, purpley, plummy batiks...

:D

And I just thought of a 'real' name which kind of fits the design (I think) but maintains a small element of all our toothsome joking.. drum roollllllllll pleeeease...

"Fandango"

:-D Actually I think Gai already suggested this but I recently said to Katrine that I am inclined to adopt other ppl's better ideas as my own!

EDIT - actually I had a quick scroll back and it was 'Fangs for the Memories' in my previous post that I 'adopted' from Gai! :XD:

It IS yummy isn't it? That's the one that looks grey on the pattern so will play a big part in the quilt. It's a batik and that's all I know...
