Do believe you are headed for the "Best of Show" or the Grand Prize!!! As the journey continues, I'll be anxiously awaiting more updates :)

cnolan 03-12-2011 11:56 AM

WOW!!!!!

You had better post LOTS (!!!!) of pictures of your work in progress! You have all of us in a frenzy of envy and anticipation, so don't leave us hanging, please!

Also, please add my name to your loooooong list of people who really want to buy a copy of that pattern when you get around to it! :)

Yup! Drooling all over!! I WANT that middle one, the one that looks like it's still on the bolt. What is it, please!! Yummy, yummy!!!

It IS yummy isn't it? That's the one that looks grey on the pattern so will play a big part in the quilt. It's a batik and that's all I know...

OH MULE MUFFINS!! Don't try and tell me that there isn't any information on the selvage, you tease you!! :?:

sherriequilts 03-13-2011 04:48 AM

Have you started yet? Just trying to be encouraging! The design is great.

Thats kind of on purpose and funny you should pick up on that! I tried it with the points in and thought it looked a bit predictable - this was gave some tension to the design and made it more interesting, I thought. I really value your comments though, thank you. I'm about to head out with the dog but when I get back, I'll post the other version and see what you think :-D

The person asking for as tute - this is just fiddling about in EQ with the blocks in the library - hours of twisting and turning to get to this point! Did you mean a tute on how to get the design or how to make the actual quilt?

I'd love to know how to make the quilt!

Thank you! I'll start one I a) get the centre worked out because it's REALLY bugging me now  and b) once I can get to a shop with lots of batiks to get the fabric for it - there's one an hour or so drive from me (near Bath) that may be a good bet, or my more local lady - half an hour away, might try her first as she does 'stash packs' of batiks and this is mostly FQs and 1/8th yard pieces according to the EQ yardage - which generally errs on the side of generous in my experience. :-D Plus I have a commitment to make a wall hanging for a friend that I want to do first. So that was the looooong answer! The short answer is 'soon'!

OK I am being encouraging! Whip out that wallhanging and head on down to Bath (love that city, go there every time I am in UK) and get cracking on this beauty. Want to see you win.

Thanks to the other ladies for their SENSIBLE comments! Just finishing my coffee while looking at msgs then off out to a fabric shop! :-D

Actually, the way the fangs are bent, it should be Fangdangle!!

(Looking for my Poise pads)

That did it for me. and I am out of Depends!

sinceresissy 03-13-2011 05:18 AM

Yes, I would enjoy seeing how this plays out. I'm in love with it right now.

It's a batik, and they generally don't have a 'proper' selvage, I'm sowwyy! Perhaps next time I'm there I can check it out for you. :-D

The fabric are ready to prewash then I'll probably get started in the next week or so - I have a wallhanging to make first and a couple of tops to quilt for an Art Sale in a few weeks that I want to have done, then this is next on the list... if it works out I'll do a version as a pattern for sale. :D

sinceresissy 03-14-2011 05:27 AM

I still like the first version better than any of the others. It seems more delicate and rich. Some of the other versions are shouting and loud. Is it confusing to get all these opinions? I am not a designer so I am just reflecting a quick look opinion.

Ma for Aadyn 03-14-2011 05:59 AM

OMG IT IS BEAUTIFUL PLEASE KEEP US POSTED ON PROGRESS

tutty 03-14-2011 06:28 AM

Not confusing at all - I read them all and take them on board but then go with my own instinct! But it does clarify my thinking to read all your thoughts. I do take your point but I think that with my fabric choices (especially the pinky grey focus fabric that Gai was asking about) along with the ideas in my head for the applique, it will work out good. You be sure to let me know when you see the finished version! And be honest - I don't ask for opinions to only hear 'yes-men', or women!

barefoot quilter 03-14-2011 01:04 PM

that is so pretty i just can't wait the colors and the pattern is wonderfull please keep us posted

sinceresissy 03-15-2011 04:28 AM

The ideas I have in my head when I am thinking about making a quilt don't usually turn out that way in the quilt. I have a long way to go to in this learning process. I am waiting with baited breath to see how it goes. I'm sure it will be fab no matter what.

k3n 03-15-2011 05:32 AM

Thank you both. Once I start it, I'll post my progress so you can all cheer me on - and nag me! LOL

I'll do it now. Thanks for your kind words. :-D

And to the other 'encouragers' - fabric is washed and pressed and I'm ready to roll. I will be working this up as a pattern as I go but it will be a while before it's ready to buy so please bear with me. :-D Feel free to keep nagging me to get mine done though!

Lovely.

BevF 03-17-2011 06:07 PM

Lovely colors! You need one more for 13, then you can call it Fandango 13! I'd go a slightly lighter shade of purple for the medallion problem. Both designs are great, how can you go wrong?

Debbie B 03-17-2011 06:09 PM

It's beautiful.

Thank you! I didn't post every single variation on here, but the final one I put up on page 13 was the 13th version in my EQ. :D My fabrics are bought washed and pressed - there's a photo of them on page 16. I'm dying to get on with this but haven't sewn a stitch in the last few days at all as we've had a friend staying here whilst her rental house became available. She's moving out today so hopefully next week, I can get some work done! Guests are great but I'm always happy when they leave! Mean, ain't I?!

My grandmother was fond of saying "Fish and company stink after 3 days".

That's why I teased with one more fabric. 13th version on page 13, 13 fabrics, Fandango 13.... I understand with friends/relatives staying and overstaying their welcome. I hope I don't fall into that category when I go to visit. I'll try to keep up with your progress. One step at a time, one day at a time, you will get it done on time. :)

Pam M

k3n 03-22-2011 02:29 AM

I was walking the dog with Hans at the weekend and I suddenly said 'doh, I just realised what that lady meant about the 13th thingy - she meant add a 13th fabric'! And I will - the backing!

And no it is not done yet Miss Impatient Knickers, but now I've got rid of stinky fish-face, I can get on with it! (Just kidding, I love her really! :D )

quilter68 03-22-2011 05:01 AM

A super quilt! Can't wait for your choices of fabric - if not those shown.
