Cathe: Your dahlia is gorgeous. I sure don't see any problems there. My one stumbling block seems to be quilting patterns. I am still very inexperienced in selecting the right pattern to really enhance my quilt design. :D :D :D

:D The giant Dahlia. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I love your choice of colars, it really gives demention to the quilt. Where can I get the pattern for it? I would love to make one myself.

I have downloaded the giant dahlia but can't find out where it has gone !!! Have tried to print the picture of it but it won't print it.... what a shame..... where did you get the pattern from please? Would love to have a go at making it...

I found a pattern in a couple old 1980's Quilt magazines, and it seems to work ok (with a little adjustment). And it's pretty much identical to the one in a book I just bought: Quick and Easy Giant Dahlia Quilt on the Sewing Machine by Susan Aylsworth Murwin and Suzzy Chalfant Payne. I did not assemble it according to the directions in that book -I sewed it in quarters, then in halves and then together. If you do a google search for "giant dahlia quilt pattern", you will find a few different patterns.

Here is the site for the dahlia... it says somewhere along the line that the site has shifted but if you wait for a few seconds up comes the pattern to print off.... it is the dahlia plus the edging.... the whole quilt.... all 10 pages of it.....

I hate to be a wet blanket, but that site looks like a direct copy of the (copyrighted) book. It's illegal to do that, even though she isn't making any money from it. Copyright laws are important to all of us who do creative work!
