Thanks for posting again, it is alway interesting to see what your group is up to. Just like the others, I can hardly wait to see what she does with the silk worm cocoons.

When I taught Home Ec. I wrote to china requesting information on their silk for my class. They sent me a beautiful silk scarf, a couple of cocoons, and a bundle os silk strands along with a chart explaining the whole chart. That's exactly how the cocoons looked and the bundles of slik strands looked. What an excellent gift. Not sure what you would do with the cocoons, maybe cut a small slit on the back and pull out the catapiller then hand dye the cocoon in various colors and designs. spray a sealer, attach a small pin on the back over the slit and sell them as jewelry.

Thanks for sharing your photos. I'm sure the lady returning to England will treasure her house quilt.

The lady who has those cocoons does fibre art and she does some amazing stuff. I believe she soaks them and opens them out into little circles dyes them, but what she will do with these new ones I don´t know, but be sure I will post pics

Beautiful and interesting work as usual from your group Elle! Regarding the silk, I have used this in a landscape quilt posted here http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-75461-1.htm - you see it most clearly in the second picture. If you tease it out and lay it on greaseproof paper then spritz it with water, lay more paper over the top and press it with a dry iron, you get a filmy sheet of loveliness that can then be FMQd onto a fabric background. It wouldn't be washable obviously but it's fabulous for a wallhanging. The silk I used was hand dyed and I bought it in a little packet at the Festival of Quilts here in England last year. http://www.stef-francis.co.uk/fibres...rowsters-waste this was the supplier.
