When my term as president of my l guild ended in March, the board gave me 40 (That's right, 40!) 12-inch blocks, all a friendship star variation in red, white and blue....Every hue of red and blue, I think. I decided to make a two-sided quilt with the majority of the blocks. I designed and made the applique blocks. My bee helped me assemble them. It's probably about 52" square and it's called "Celebrations of Freedom." I'm using 10 other blocks with a red and Moda blue poppy floral in a bed throw and the other four in a table mat.

Thanks so much. I just noticed that the eagle picture looks a little fuzzy and the other was a bit rumpled when I took picture. the gold border really is straight! ... So I changed out the eagle picture. It's my favorite side of the quilt. Wish you could see the details of the quilting.

I'm thinking it will look good in my entryway and I can switch the sides depending on the holidays--or my whims. By the way, the quilter did a a great job --with the eagle side especially, but apparently matching two sides for quilting isn't fun!

Nice job! I like the applique blocks you set in the center. They really set off the stars!
