I'm not sure that the gold is overpowering but I would mix up the blocks; too much dark on the bottom right and too much light in the upper left.

My two cents as well. Rearrange, take pics then look at it to see which design you like.

I love the colors but it feels chaotic (to me). Mom3's rearrangement is more disciplined. Consider using her arrangement but flip every other block upside down or flip all the blocks in every other row.

There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to how the triangles in the blocks are turned, it seems confusing. I would rearrange until I get a pleasing look. Try having the triangles all the same place, then try every other one, and so on, until you reach a point were it says, yeah! Let us see it when you are done!

Maybe if you change out the gold on the lighter blocks with black? Too much gold for my taste.

I think it needs to have some sort of pattern, it doesn't flow together

Pop it with small pieces of red and orange, maybe add orange streaks or red streaks to pop it out.

I like the gradient idea and the fabrics are lovely. However, I do think that the "confetti" like scattering of the gold triangles takes away from both the gradient and lovely fabric. The gold block in the upper left-hand corner isn't consistent with the dark to light effect. IMHO if you organized your triangles so that there is a common square in the middle, I believe it would look more cohesive. What I do love about quilting is being able to move blocks around and seeing what glorious patterns can evolve.

I would rearrange the blocks. I don't think the gradation with these particular colors works very well.

I see a weak Horizontal Line running from Top Right down to bottom left. I like this. But it is not Strong. Try adding some blocks that are black-on-black, with almost no contrast. Or some solid black squares. This will make a cleaner design. Since it is a small wall hanging, it might benefit by making it taller and more narrow. I'm glad you haven't sewn it yet. Keep re-arranging and show us again.
