I think its awesome! A thin red border and a larger black border would look good. You have a lot of neutral tones throughout the fabrics. You could really pick up the reds in it.

Oh I think it looks fabulous!! The colors all look splendid together!! Let your right brain love it!!! :-D

I wonder how it would look with a narrow black border, then your favorite fabric next, and add a wider black border last? That's a lot of borders though. I think it'll look terrific with any combination.

Lucky son!!

It really IS great! I'm convinced that your son will love it and he should never learn that you don't love it (yet ... but you will love it, I think)!

I think you will love it when it is done. I would do a thin red border then black. It will be gorgeous!

I am 100% positive you will feel differently when all the pieces are sewn together and quilted. :)

This is a perfect guy quilt. I love the colors and that pattern is perfect. What a great idea to incorporate him into the quilt. A black border would look great.

I think it is a wonderful quilt!!! I see 3 borders, a thin black, then a red, and another wider black border. :D:D:D

I love it!!! Maybe if you do want to try something different, maybe more symmetrical, you could do the 6 "other" composers on the left and right sides (one in each 4 corners, and the last two centered on the sides), then have the one of your son smack dab in the middle (so it's be in the same row as the two middle side ones). But I really like the random thing you have going on, I just know sometimes people like it better if it's more orderly.

HTH!
