Wow, Rob, thanks for this detailed explanation! My degree is in Mathematics and I didn't even know this. Might have something to do with that non-Euclidean geometry I decided to skip. (When I was in school it was still taught by Euclid).

HA! My rounding was even easier: Pattern calls for 2 1/3rd yard - buy 3 yards. Pattern calls for 3 1/2 yards - buy 4 yards. Or more. lol

Happy to oblige PaperPrincess....the last time I took a math class was before calculators, It was Math Analysis and as I recall it was all about finding limits...

Martina, your way is easier, but my way grows a stash faster

As a Controller the convo on 'math' made me giggle right out loud. TOOOOO funny!

I will now, in the future, tell my husband it isn't my fault my stash is growing, it is a math problem. We'll see if he buys it. LOL

A friend is battling an illness and she has come to the conclusion that she won't be able to quilt any longer. She will be selling her considerable stash. So what is more important: Support a friend in need or stick to my guns? I think the friendship wins.

Martina, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I agree, supporting a friend wins every time.

Oh no, MadQuilter. I am so very sorry to hear that. I can't imagine my emotional health without quilting.
Support your friend. Always.
