You are too funny, but at the same time, so very true. I did a class where I was determined to only use material from my stash. Loved the class, learned a lot, only used what I had. But in choosing material I pulled a lot out, put in piles, set aside, etc. In putting things back was discouraged how little I had actually used. This is the month of my birthday, so I know I have a exemption coming. Not sure if I will use it, or stick to what I am doing so far this year. If I don't put temptation in my way I can avoid it better. Happy Birthday to me, lol.

Until I started reading more on this quilting board, always felt as if the backs had to be one piece, one look, etc. Now I am being more creative with the backs and liking how it is lowering the stash population, lol. Thanks all.

I love the look of pieced backs, AnngelAnne. Sometimes I incorporate a strip of orphan blocks into my back as well.

Great idea, can't wait to piece a back now, and that will make it so much easier depleting my stash. Thanks.

Thank you. Everyone, don't ever laugh when someone tells you as you get older it goes faster, it is very true, lol.

After much thought and literally a year of drooling and not buying, I decided to use my birthday exemption to purchase 1 fat quarter bundle of those delicious aged muslins that Craftsy has been selling!!! In addition to being extremely luscious, the color selections and the fact that they are shades not pure colors will nicely fill a hole in my stash. I even used some restraint and only bought 1 bundle....

I understand that kind of restraint Rob. I use it myself - it was only a yard or it was only a FQ.
I've done pretty well for the month of August (even though it's only day 10). I ordered a die and a few rulers that were too good of a sale to pass up but no fabric found its way in the cart.
The die is the double wedding ring and while I have made it traditionally (on my 7th attempt) i"m excited to get this die as it will surely half the the time it takes just in cutting.

I am bracing for the road trip in September where I am going to jump off the wagon with arms flailing wildly, a raucous exclamation of whootwhoot and the biggest smile you can imagine. I won't even pretend to be on a moratorium. lol
