I deliberately stepped off the wagon on Monday. On my way home from a family wedding in Lubbock, TX (800 mile round trip) I stopped by our local Joann’s & bought the backing for my Surprise Pinwheels quilt. I only bought that fabric & some rotary blades so I didn’t go wild. I’m back on board now & need to sandwich & quilt the top.

I bought some backing and binding fabrics yesterday for specific tops. I'm so pleased that I've avoided any impulse buying since starting the moratorium!

I am making Jenny's fence rail stars with stash jelly rolls and stash WOW for the star points. And I found some fabric in my stash that was left from making DGD a dress when she was 3 years old... she is now 20, that I will use for backing. It feels so good to use stash on these projects. My quilty friend just commented on the empty spaces in my drawers and closets.

Impulse buying is my weakness... And, I agree, the moritorium has curbed the impulses a lot a lot a lot....lol..

I visited our local thrift shop today and almost... almost ... almost, weakened. There was a cute little 1 yard piece of cute print for just 50 cents, but, reluctantly, I put it back. It was close but I thought about my near spotless record of no fabric purchases since Dec. 2017. Whew!! That was really close!

While the Fabric Moratorium has helped to keep my impulse buying at bay, I still have my moments of weakness when I see a unique fabric that I know I will regret not buying. The other day I was browsing fabrics at JoAnns. Sure enough, I came upon a very nice "strata" fabric with various shades of blue ... perfect sky fabric for landscape quilts (I love making landscape quilts!). You guessed it, I bought it. That and a clearance remnant of mottled gray/black fabric that will be great for mountains and rocks. The happy side to this "true confession" I that I have already used both fabrics in an ocean landscape quilt that I am presently working on. I will post a pic upon completion, which should be very soon.

I finally finished a top! It is 71” by 78” and all from stash. Several of the blocks were donated orphan blocks. This top will be finished by my church quilting group and then donated.

Oh great way to put those pieces to rest, Connie.

Going on a QB Moratorium...my sis from WV is coming this weekend to spend a few days...you will all have to live without me until she leaves!
