I'm working on cutting Step #2 pieces and I have a question. Bonnie gives us 2 ways to cut them. I'm using the Companion Ruler to save fabric but I find placing the ruler as she says so the bottom edge is at the middle 2.5" line makes the width of the rectangle wider than the 4.5". I checked to see what it would end up after sewing the square HST to each end and it still comes out a bit over 4.5. Is anyone else having this issue? Haven't cut my neutrals yet so I'll wait I hear from some of you on how yours measure out.

The picture is too dark, I know, but here is mine. It's lovely to be finished piecing, and I hope to send it to be quilted next week. You can't really see but I put a red border, gold one and finished with a wide black border. I wanted a queen size.

Everyone's quilts and quilts in progress are looking wonderful. I love this design! I am especially enjoying the different color ways!

I cut mine at the 2.5" line as Bonnie instructed and mine came out fine. You might want to check your seam allowance. Maybe you are going too scant?
It turned out beautiful, bluebonnet!

Me too! I'm making each block one at a time so I have a better handle on the 'scrappy-ness'. Mine will be a half-sized quilt when I'm finished.

How much too wide are they? I found that with these rulers, I had to angle my cutter inward more than I do with my regular cutting ruler. Not sure why this should be.

Bluebonnets, the muted gold works so well. I love it!

Beautiful, Joe's Mom and Bluebonnets! I love the way Bonnie used constants and scrappies in each block to highlight the design. It really worked.

Finally! A flimsy, a back and ready for the quilter!! Woo hoo!!

My colors are what Bonnie recommended, in civil war reproduction prints. However, I went with more cheddar than yellow.

The flimsy and layout are per instructions. The only change that I made was in the corners where I added a neutral strip before the red triangles.

Did I say woo hoo?!? Woo hoo!!!

Fraew, I've admired your quilt all along as you built it. Now I know why I was so attracted to it... scrappy Civil War prints! It's one of my faves.
