Some quilts are designed with a large area at the top that is not part of the main design and is meant to accommodate the pillows. The quilts I've seen with this feature had a square, symmetrical and rather fancy main design, and I guessed the pillow border was so the symmetry of the main design wouldn't be lost when the quilt was tucked under the pillows.

I just finished piecing On Ringo Lake. I added several borders and it’s king size. I think for Good Fortune I’m going to use Halloween colors and fabrics. I really want a Halloween quilt and hopefully these colors will work with the pattern.

Marci, I got some of the orange FQ from Quilted Twins last year and the others are from my stash.

LarasAussies, love your Halloween fabric choices for Good Fortune. Your border is outstanding on beautiful ORL.

All from my stash my reds, blues and greens. I have plenty of neutrals left over from previous BH mysteries.
I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of your fabric choices. It's like walking into a candy store for me. All so yummy!

Oh wow Laras - you're Ringo Lake is amazing. Love your borders - but that's a LOT of extra pieces!
Your Halloween idea is great. I was actually going to do Halloween colors but just don't have quite enough to make it work so I'm sticking to Bonnie colors.

LarasAussies, your ORL is outstanding. And a king-size to boot!

Those fabrics look perfect, Tweety. You must have a great stash.

I love your dot fabric, AmyBible. That should be a very zingy and fun quilt.

Thanks for the explanation, joe'smom. For some reason I was envisioning those biscuit quilts with stuffed squares (like pillows)!

Love all the fabric collections and the huge Ringo Lake! What an amazing border.

I went back to look at the instructions for ORL last year. Bonnie said the same thing about being okay if you choose one fabric instead of scraps in the Intro. FYI

I am really seeing some pretty fabrics being shown. Guess I'll have to go check my stash.
