I think you did good Gemm, Nice fabrics that should play well together, good color sense. My stash is all over the place because I am not terribly selective on what I like... my friend Barb in Arizona works mostly in batiks and so her scraps are batik, and you can't necessarily tell the difference between her "planned" and her scrap works.
Snooze, I'm not sure if I congratulated you on your restraint. I get confused between posts here and the other thread -- but another well done to you. Sounds like a fun day, dog and all. If we (hubby and I) go to Missouri, the dogs will be going with us.
I remain at work on the crazy blocks, I did my math and drafting and have my number of blocks needed. After my next sewing sessions I should have the proper number of blocks started, then will have to make them larger up to the 13.5" raw size I need. The filler blocks at the top and bottom borders will be trimmed down, but only like a 3" piece so I will just count them as "whole" for this step. I will also need (6?) half squares, I think that will be easiest to do as part of the adding-to and trimming-down process, just 3 blocks made more like at 15" and sliced down the diagonal.
The second set of blocks I did, the ones with too much Parasol fabric is coming back at me again... they just don't play nice with each other. Plus the sharp points make the blocks really irregular -- but I wanted some sharp points! Last night ended with my creating a stack of fabrics not used in the double-parasols and cutting a new set of 8" blocks. That will be the first task of the day, making that set.
The third set of blocks, the 5-piece 6" ones went together so smoothly and nicely! But then I was using 2 sets of fabrics, and the blocks still needed trimming but were pretty square. I'm thinking maybe three of those will fit along 2 of the 8" ones for about the proper size...
Just imagine flashing fabric and rotary blades with intermittent hmms of the sewing machine. And lots of music in the background. Yesterday it was the Avett Brothers, album after album. Sometimes apparently I am unaware of the lack of banjo in my life and they manage to fill it...

Gemm, nice job on working those purchases. It all fits well together. Love the turtle fabric! And the price was an added bonus!
Hubby and I plan a road trip to the Lancaster, Pa area. Not specifically for fabric but there may be a shop or two included. I don’t know why, because I certainly don’t need anything. But he offered and of course I said YES.

Still slashing and dicing the fabric and whirring the sewing machine. I now have my 26?? crazy blocks started. Each block is somewhere around 1/2 the area it will need, but in different shapes.
Yesterday I spent some time again taking the trims from previous rounds and making them crazy. I am staying surprisingly non-crazy. This is not really the way I usually work. I usually have a much more drawn out pattern to start, but in this case at least, sometimes the dimensions you draw are not the dimensions the fabrics want to give. When I am making the base blocks bigger, I can have some... squarer... pieces in between the triangle points of the blocks.

I finished another UFO that was all from scraps and stash! (You can see it in the UFO Thread here on the QB.) So I did my magic calculations for the month of September and I ended up with more coming in than going out but only by 9.25 yards. If you recall I did a bit of a dive at an estate sale but in the end I am still moving ahead toward my goal for the year. I may just meet my personal goal or at least get really close. How y'all doing?

I needed 2 four yard pieces of backing fabrics for two quilts. My guild was having a sale of donated fabric and I was able to pick up what I needed for $16. I consider it a win win even though I bought fabric. It helps the guild and I will be able to complete two quilts. I’m okay with mindful purchases.

I am continuing my slicing and dicing and using up stash on the dragon hoard. Also have used up most of the fabrics I bought during the Shop Hop, basically all of the ones I intended for the current project. Ok, I still have a net increase of black and white fat quarters and a couple of bowling fabrics that are intended for something someday.
Yesterday at sewing group, I cut two more sets of small (6") crazy blocks. I think that will about be all I need, plus the left over trims and such. None of the blocks are full sized yet, much less trimmed and ready to go. Probably another week of work? Well, a few hours that will take me a week...
I did do my Fabric Research of the MegaFabric Store site. I was suitably pleased/impressed and would use them again -- if I ever bought fabric for full price again! I ordered a mystery bundle that was 5 half yards. Did my tests and comparisons, sent one piece to my friend Barb in Arizona, and a fat quarter to Wesing who started me on this.

Not that much to report here, been busy in my non-sewing life and not so productive down in the studio
I have faced many fabric temptations but have so far survived them all since my fabric research/product testing adventure.
Yesterday at sewing group I did some more small crazy blocks. I think I now have enough crazy pieces (or darn close) to finish putting together the Dragon Hoard alternate blocks. Which (witch??) is good because it is already October and my Bonnie Hunter fabric frenzy will start on Halloween. Plenty of time to collect fabrics, project still doesn't start until Thanksgiving but I like plenty of time to pull and play.

I had to go to the bank last week... there just happens to be a thrift store about 4 doors down in the strip mall. I went and picked up two pieces of fabric - thought they might be big enough to act as a backing for an I Spy quilt (they were hockey-themed). Walked through the store towards the cash desk, turned around, and returned them to the crafty corner. I'm not making I Spy quilts right now and I already have a couple of pieces of "young" fabric that would work.
In other good news, I'm about 2/3 of the way around my binding on a donation quilt - it's been held up by good weather encouraging garden cleanup and other "real life" distractions.
