Grand Illusion - Bonnie Hunter's Mystery Quilt 2014
#752
Thanks Bennie for posting Bonnie's instructions on pressing the completed blocks. I know lots of folks here and on the FB site were asking about it.
I cannot suffer unpressed blocks sitting around (don't I wish I was that disciplined about housework!!), so I pressed mine with swirled centers like I did with her Blue Ridge Beauty quilt. If I have to press them again ... so be it. When it comes time to either add more units to the block or prep the sashing ... I'll figure out the pressing of those (and how they match) and make adjustments.

I am nearly done with clue 1... should finish today. I have decided to do 3/4 of everything Bonnie did, to get a rectangular (hopefully) quilt. 88" wide is REALLY wide for my purposes, so I'm hoping to make mine a little narrower.
These are my broken dishes, with the last photo showing the final batch of HSTs and squares to be sewn into broken dishes blocks.

Do you have an olfa mat? Or Fiskers?
I bought an olfa mat after the Fiskers mat became hard as a rock.
It turns out the hard as a rock Fiskers mat is perfect to use the pinking blade on.

Here are my completed broken dishes units. I went super scrappy with all except the constant yellow. I have at least fifteen different fabrics of each of the other colors. Love it so far!

Sue, they are archived on YouTube (search for Bonnie K Hunter) or you can go to her blog and click the Quilt Cam tab where you'll find a list of all the dates of prior quilt cams at the bottom of that post.
