more dense quilting, working my way out to the borders. For the micro stitching I used a "c's and e's" method so I could keep it tightly quilted and get into and out of areas. Check out Leah Day's uTube videos, she has tons of great ideas for FMQ (365 of them!). I found c's and e's worked great for micro stitching. I found that it helped to listen to smooth jazz while micro stippling and take a break every 15-30 minutes for a gulp of red wine. |
I turned in 3 charity quilts today, so I was down to just 3 tops to quilt (have 5 to bind, but that's another story). But alas, they gave me 3 more tops to quilt. Just kidding, happy to do it. But, I'm down to just 9 UFO's (not counting the 3 tops today)!! Woo hoo!!!

Thank you for all the info. It definitely helps me understand better. FMQ remains the bane of my existence as far as quilting goes. I'm a piecer at heart I think. One day I'm going to really devote the effort to it and at least make something presentable. In the meantime, I'll be sticking to stitch in (and beside) the ditch and a little echo quilting. And I will continue to enjoy - and be impressed by - your work as well as everyone else here who can do it. :)
