That is fabulous quilting, I can see why you wanted to show it off. I'm going to bookmark it as inspiration.

Beautiful finishes everyone!
Seems like I'm finally learning how to navigate this site. |
I love those loons, Connie (I didn't realize a loon looked so much like a duck). The diagonal blocks are a great counterpoint to the loon fabric.
Beautiful quilt, Linda! Thanks for showing a close-up of that lovely quilting. |
The things I learn here, my goodness. In the last 60 seconds I've learned that a Loon is not a duck (wrong for 50+ years on that one) and that the twitchiness of moldy horse hair is the source of that old saying. Gotta love the QB! Roflol.

A wild hair is something silly you do on impulse. Derived from a horse hair that falls in the trough and gets fungus growing on it and twitches uncontrollably.

Congratulations and Toot, Toot on yet another UFO finish. My goodness!

Another UFO FINISH! This one is a baby quilt top that measures 41" by 45". It will be given to a charity to finish.
It was started a couple of years ago. I was given some uneven strips to make into diagonal blocks. The volunteer that gave them to me said it was ok just to sew the strips together even though they were uneven. So I sewed them with only a little trimming. :) I had 8 blocks of the 20 needed and then they were set aside for some reason. When I pulled them out again, I decided I didn't want to make 12 more diagonal blocks. So long story short, I made 2 more diagonal blocks and 10 vertical stripped blocks and put them on my design wall. Oh, my! Too overwhelming! So I made more diagonal blocks and finished the quilt with the loon fabric. I have started sewing the vertical stripped blocks together and will use the loon material in it also. I don't want those blocks becoming an UFO! Connie ! |
Trying this post again...
Toot, Toot for a UFO finish! Love this pattern. Arkansas Crossroads, isn't it? This train is still slowly moving along!

Then I stuff the poor, misbegotten "wild hair" into a bag/box/tote, to go "out of sight, out of mind", until I'm digging for something else... or trying to rescue my sewing room from UFO's. Then I might drag it out, and put it on the "UFO Challenge" list... and maybe I finish it, and maybe I shudder and once again think "what in the WORLD was I THINKING?!?!?" and hide it from myself again. Since I cannot bring myself to throw something away, eventually all these ugly ducklings will get finished. Probably when I retire and can't afford to buy new fabric/kits/inspiration. :) |
Leta....laughing at your post....wild hairs is a lifestyle choice, right? I'm so afraid to count my wild hairs....but it would braid into a nice long hair extension....I have 3 in my living room right now waiting to be finished...

Lovely finishes ladies! And that is an origin of a saying that I use all the time that I did not know! My son will love that one he is always asking where these crazy sayings come from. I got the backing for my next UFO so will baste that tomorrow along with another flimsy that is not an old one but one that has been sitting around for awhile. Also go almost all the old FMQ out of a UFO table runner. So the plan is to sit down this weekend and try and do all three. We will see if I can avoid any wild hairs in between lol
