OCTOBER FINISH! A baby top: will be donated and finished by other volunteers. 40" by 48" This was a Fall 2014 Mystery quilt hosted by MSQC and designed by Heather Spence. When I pulled it out to finish it, I didn't like some of the color combinations so I decided to change them. I then decided I wanted it baby quilt size. I started sewing strips together and started cutting them into subsets and started to sew the subsets together for the first few rows. Then the realization moment occurred: 'Oh, no! Why doesn't my pattern show the chevron look like the designer's picture?" I missed an important direction about making all the strips from color 1, then continuing with the other colors. It should have been a light/dark combo for each color. I decided just to cut more strips of the gold with vines on it and substitute that color for all of the lights. I like the finished top but hope to use the pattern another time following the directions! Lol! Connie [ATTACH=CONFIG]559345[/ATTACH] P.S. Retired teacher-I really like your quilt the colors are so beautiful. I like the pattern, also. I may make one of these for DIL in purples and greens.

Ok the second wonky starbright is done. On this one I did the star reversed and wonky cause when I made it I wanted to use up more of my left overs this has left overs from four different baby quilts. I used the pink cuddle fabric with the rosettes on the back and its super soft but super frustrating to quilt with.
The store had not cut the fabric straight so it was barely enough to fit and though I originally wanted to do another decorative stitch it squished the back to much. I decided to stitch in the ditch but since it was heavy it keep getting caught on the edge of the table and popping it out of the ditch should have just shadowed it. then I burned my finger changing the thread, never had that happen before those little bulbs get hot! It might not my best effort sigh but its very soft and cuddly and no longer a unfinished flimsy :) And since it was nice out I also took a daytime picture of the blue one the color was so off in that picture I posted [ATTACH=CONFIG]559238[/ATTACH] [ATTACH=CONFIG]559235[/ATTACH] |

Finally done! I finished it last night at 11:00pm last night. Going to be proud to have this hanging in my living room. Another finish for September. :thumbup: |
