Finally got May and June done and on the quilt. As you can see from the deep red/orange we've had several days in the 90's so far this year the lighter oranges are 80's.

Winter is here now and my maximum temps now were my minimums back in February/March. Up to date yesterday My photo is on my Ipad so I'll send it separately

looking good M-Fay. I still need to piece the 2nd half of July temps. Was hoping to get to it this weekend, but got bogged down trying to finish a collaboration and a UFO.

M-Fay, Those colors are beginning to really zing together.
I seem to be month behind....mostly 90s with a few 100s....which is why I am a month behind....do not want to turn on the iron! |
Enjoy the summer weather outside while you can. After the driest May and June on record here we!ve had the wettest July with only about 5 dry days. It's been good soaking rain though, good for the crops and my garden.

Progress through July. Highs on the top quilt, Lows on the bottom quilt.

Its going to be so interesting seeing all these finished!

Great progress everyone. I like the different patterns being used. I'm still back on February. I have to dig out my medium gray and black fabrics. I guess I will get back to it this month. I've keep track of the temperatures, so only have to put the small blocks together. Will post pic when I get caught up. Happy sewing/quilting everyone.
|
Well, I have to take both columns for July apart. After I sewed them to each other and got ready to put them on the quilt I discovered I'd forgotten to trim the 62 HSTs for July so columns are too long to fit into quilt...unsewing this afternoon....might be able to get it all together to post a pic sometime this weekend.

July has been fixed and added LOL

Hey all,
I got July fixed and added it to the quilt. Here it is so far. As you can see, July was really hot here with lots of 90s, the darker purple/maroony one was for our 1 day so far that was over 100. Rob |
Looking good Rob.very striking. I wish I'd had more contrast with my highs and lows. but I'll know for next year!

Made a holiday apron to cool off. Will go to a granddaughter's doll. My doll modeling in my very red kitchen. |

August columns added
1 Attachment(s)
Hey all,
I've added the August columns to my temp quilt. I'm really surprised that we didn't have any days over 100 degrees in August. That is unusual. We almost always have a few days in both July and August that are that hot. We did have a number of days where the combination of temperature in the mid to high 90s + high humidity created what the weather folks call a "feels like" temp that was over 100 including several that were in the 105+ region. Anyway, here it is as of the end of August. Rob |
It's looking good, Rob. We didn't have any 90s here in Aug, and only 2 in July. There were 5 +90 days in June.
|
Thanks gramajo! Do you normally get more hot days in the summer than what you had this year?
It's been a strange summer in terms of temps around here. All those deep red-oranges in July are 90's, then there were only a few for August-- which is when we usually have our hottest weather---instead, we had lots of 80s during the day and nights in the 60s and 70s--that's more like our usual September weather. My kitchen garden has not liked the weather this year at all--tomatoes didn't produce much in July--too hot. They're just now coming in good. Okra- likes hot weather, but not the cooler nights so while production was good in July, they've not produced much throughout August which is when they usually produce enough that we can freeze some for winter--not this year. Squash got destroyed early on by Squash vine borers- but we expected that. Cukes did okay for a while before the vine borers got them, so we've got plenty of pickles. Bean production has been lower than usual as well. The peppers (bell and hot) and eggplants are the only things that have done really well. However, the collards and beets that we moved into a shady spot for the summer and the Swiss Chard are now starting to rejuvenate, so hopefully it will be a good fall for greens. Rob |
Wow, Rob, looking really good. Now I can really see the pattern and how it's all going to shape up at the end!! Wonderful quilt!
|
Thanks Linda! I've been struggling with this one, all those HSTs are outside my comfort zone since it involves trying to line up points and it has taken more discipline than I usually have to keep plugging away LOL!
Rob |
Rob, August is usually out hottest month with July next hottest. End of August was mostly in 70s with upper 50s/lower 60s at night. There was one night that went down to 48. Brrr! Hopefully I'll get August done today.

One more round on.The evil magenta is Temperatures over 100, which should never happen at 4000 feet in Northern California!!

MNT Grandma- That’s a lot of over 100s! We usually have several days over 100, but this year only got 1. Looks like the weather service mixed up our deliveries this year! Your (snow dyed?) fabrics add a beautiful glow to your quilt.
Rob |
It is so pretty. Can't wait to see it finished.

October temps are on

All these have the WOW factor! They all look amazing! I wish I had more contrast in mine, but it's been an interesting challenge. I reckon next year I'll just stick to maximum temps and do it a bit different I.m all caught up now and it seems to be all orange and green!

Good going m-fay! I like the idea of laying it out like a series of monthly calendars,
