Love your ribbon quilt, Battle Axe!
Sweet photos, sewbiz, thanks for sharing! Lucky babes to have Grandma sew them clothes. |
Sewbizgirl-your pictures are priceless. Enjoy your grandbabies because they grow up so fast and there is a lot of time to sew.
|
I’ve been working hard to declutter my studio. Making pretty good progress. Yea! I’m going to go in and load up my next ufo, I found a perfect backing while straightening shelves over the weekend so, another one is going to get finished up- hopefully this week. Feeling like I am making good progress ( finally)
pictures after the quilting is done. |
Just seeing this thread and am going to jump in for the rest of the year. I have several quilt tops ready to be quilted (my least favorite part of the process) and have made the goal to get at least one quilted a month. Then I'll work on completing other started quilts in between. I am going to count projects tomorrow and take some pictures to share.
There have been some great projects completed so far this year!! |
Carriem, welcome aboard this ole UFO train, I for one is eager to see what you will complete. , I have been on a non sew spell and this past two weeks got my sew mojo back. So, I dug in my stash looking for something else and found my next to the oldest UFO and I pulled it out and it's going to get finished

Welcome Carrie..can't wait to see what you bring for finishes. Me I've been making new quilts...but finishing them so they are not UFO's
cherryb..hope to see your finish soon! |
Thank you, everyone, for your kind expressions of sympathy. I am doing as well as could be expected and keeping quite busy. Love seeing projects and grandchildren on the board.

Well I got my list made as well as one for my daughter since I was going through the tubs. :)
For me I have: 6 tops ready to be quilted--1 sandwiched and started today (pictured below)! All have binding made and I have backing/batting for 4 of them. 1 top that just needs one more border to make a little bigger, binding made 6 quilts started 2 kits fabric for 2 other quilts So enough to keep me busy for a while!! My goal is to quilt at least 1 a month and then work on other projects in-between. Working to do 1 block a day from the Farmers Wife 1930s quilt on days I am at home...have gotten 3 done since Monday. I attached today's block. My 17yr old daughter has: 2 tops 3 started fabric for 2 more A true quilter!! lol She has completed 10-15 quilts...I can't remember the exact count for her. |
Cute quilt, Carrie... is that one of your daughter's? I love the fabric used in the border!
|
SBG--nope that is one I made. It was originally supposed to be for my niece but I ended up giving her a different one using the same fabric line. :) My daughter did make one using this pattern though. I'll have to take a picture tomorrow...it is one of her un quilted tops.

I finished a couple of ufos. The first one was a quilt I started in October or November of last year. I put it away because my sewing machine didn't have a big enough throat plate to quilt it. I bought a a Free Westinghouse sewing machine in March and got it quilted and bind. The back I didn't have enough of either blues so I used blocks leftover from a quilt I made 12 years ago. The second quilt I mad the front this year but the back are crumb blocks from a couple of years ago, quilt blocks from 12 years ago and quilt blocks from last year.

Yeah to the finishes, QBarbiej
|
Great finishes! Love that scrappy back, QueenB.
|
Queenbarbiej--those are some fun quilts! Great way to use up extra blocks from other quilts!!
|
QueenB....those are great finishes. Man, 12 years old stuff, too. Amazing. The pieced backs look just as challenging as the beautiful fronts.
|
Carrie....lovely finish and the Geneva block is really cool. Great colors. Never seen that one before...
|
Wow such lovely finishes being completed. I just love them all.
I have decided to just count the competed UFo's as I read this thread. The PM method just is not working. For example I know we had more than 21 UFO completed in April, but I only recieved PM with 4 completed UFO's. So you do not need to PM me with any complete UFO's you complete. You can still PM me if you have questions. This will start this month the Month of June. Continue making great UFO completed projects. I love them all and they give me great motivation. |

Such a lovely quilt carriem. Your puppy looks very comfortable and very cute.

Great pictures of quilts and babies! Congratulations to all.
Not much sewing time for me this month, had a quick vacation to DC for a double grad party and a eagle scout ceremony. We did extend our trip for some site seeing, we haven't been there in over 38 years. DH was going thru guitar withdrawal so I said we could fine a few shops for him to try them at. So I had to see what quilt stores were in the area.:D I was shocked! We were 6 miles from the Jinny Beyer Studio, I just had to go. Didn't get any fabric, just my leather dots for hand sewing and a coffee cup. But I was there and the fabrics are indeed awesome. Maybe next year when we have the other grad party I'll bring a empty suitcase. Now that the sewing room is clean just need to find the UFO I was working on and finish it. |
Nice job...like the graphic look on the back, Carrie.
|
Very pretty, carrie..Congrats on finish!
|
Such pretty quilts on this page! Well done, Qbj and carriem!
|
Half of this new year is behind and I completed 2 ufo's. But so many remaining, I will try two a month.
|
My work on UFO's has come to a screeching halt! But on the other hand I have made three graduation quilts in four weeks! Ta-Da! One will get its binding tomorrow, #2 will get binding on sometime next week, and #3 should be back from the LA early next week. Then back to my current projects and to get caught up on my guild work. Then.... it will be UFO time. One of the Mystery Train pieces needs quilting and binding and the Quilt Police Block of the Week will be waiting for its last row, layering quilting and binding. Happy quilting all.

petthefabric, hmm. um. They're on an excel list.
But you might mean the fabric/projects? the 19 is different from the 24 in that the 19, all the fabric is selected, I just have to keep moving on it. For example, I have a 6" square Q size in a square, a true charm quilt 13x18 blocks, 468 different fabrics. Those blocks are all done, and the planning is done, I'm sewing rows together right now, but haven't worked on since last winter. Also a quilt of my own design, crackers, Kaleidioscope, Burgoyne Surrounded, etc. Some projects are in long term storage. The ones that aren't in storage, all have a close-able bin or box, or an open basket or a flat tray/cookie sheet. I have an accuquilt die cutter. So, I grab a piece of 2 yd fabric. I rotary cut strips the width I need to go through the dies Tumbler Applecore 6 1/2" hst (divided square) rotary or die cut one or two 3-1/2 strips, then crosscut it to 6-1/2 for Brick Chevron. Block size needed for the bullseye quilt If it is bright, 2" strips for the log cabin and some bits for Garden Party (nearly demented) about 6 1-1/2 stamps for my stamp quilt So I have that stack of strips. I have a large cookie sheet, with sheets of copy paper, and the different quilts & strip width or pieces needed are written on the copy paper. I put the rotary cut strips between the sheets of paper. Once a section has several strips, I press those & run them through the appropriate die, then into their bin or box. I try to keep the cookie sheet stack under 5" thick or they start sliding. Sometime, I'm asked how I keep them straight in my head. It isn't a problem for me. I grew up with 3 grandfathers 5 grandmothers 22 aunts & uncles 27 first cousins, not even counting my great aunts/uncles and their grandchildren who are my 2nd cousins. If you think about all the people you know at worship/work/school/relatives, quilts are like that to me, all different personalities. Crazy Uncle, Sweet Aunt, goofy cousin. |
Happylab: Congratulations on finishing the UFO's. They are all very nice but the first one caught my eye with the pattern extending into the border.
|
Good evening UFO'ers, glad to see everyone progress and 'happylab' your recent finishes are great. As I stated in another thread I just returned to sew or piecing and it's a joy to be back. So I pulled out some 20 year old projects and started to work on them and started to run out of the blue fabric that is involved in the projects. When I go shopping for the blue that particular dye lot is not manufactured anymore. So, then I go online I think that I find something and I pray that it's a close enough dye lot. Now to prepare to pay for shipping.
Happy sewing everyone Cherryb |
