Beautiful fabrics, sewbizgirl! I especially love your lavenders.

I have all of my fabrics pressed, so I'm ready to go, except for deciding on a magenta. I have three possibilities, but none of them seems quite right. I'm hoping I will be able to see which is the best choice when the time comes.

When sewbizgirl invites, I come. Lololol
:-p :-)

Hello, girls! I've read all the past posts, forward starting from the first one-- lots of chat going on here, fun to read! :-)

If I gather up my fabric to make a picture, then I'll have a new pile out on my table to contend with, and less room in my little sewing area. Once I take it out, I'll not want to put it all back! It looks like there are another two weeks until the start time, so I'll keep working on what I have out presently...

I've never made a mystery quilt. But I like sewing along with others, so I think I'll join in on this one. I read on the blog that the quilt is planned to be 87". I don't want one that big, so I'll try doing half of what Bonnie suggests, until the end, when I'll decide about the size I want for sure.

I already have a quilt top made with shades of purples/plums, olive warm-type greens, and a neutral background. The accent color in it is pink. It's missing the yellow in Bonnie's colors, but seems similar, so I don't want to go exactly with what she suggests. Instead, I'll use navy and blue in exchange for the dark and light purple. And I'll use either red or orange for the constant magenta. The constant color is a tug for me, because I have a big piece of plain red (which Bonnie says might read flat, good or not, I don't know), but I'd have to buy the orange. One would be primary colors with green, which is a combination I like, but orange is a favorite of mine. Well, two weeks to decide!

I'll not worry about the ruler. I have enough rulers and can cope with cutting challenges by using them.

Givio... my Partner in Crime! Quilting crime, that is! JeanieG is here, too.

Yes, there's still plenty of time to pull your fabrics. Love the color substitutions you are considering. I love to see these designs in alternate colorways. I love navy and red or orange! I think your quilt is going to be super.

You can make half of everything, and once the final layout is revealed you can always go back and make a few more of everything if you need to, for whatever you choose your layout to be. That's my plan...

I'm not buying any new rulers, either. I have the Easy Angle and Companion Angle rulers she had us buy for past mysteries. The new one can't be much different, plus she always gives you two or three different ways to make everything.

I do use my Easy Angle ruler a LOT in everyday quilting. It helps me make perfect HSTs, without having to cut squares on the diagonal, which is less accurate. The Companion Angle ruler... not so much. Haven't even touched it since whatever mystery I bought it for. You can get these at JoAnn's when you have a coupon.

Glad you are 'on board' with us, Givio... yay!

Hi Givio - ditto what SMG says! Glad you are going to join us for this mystery! I have seen many people using the blue colors on the Facebook page. It will be beautiful!

This will be my first mystery quilt as well. I already have most of the "alternate" rulers - Easy Angle, Companion Angle, and the Tri-Recs - so I'm good there. Plus, I have several AccuQuilt dies (which she mentions she is not going to reveal, as it would give away the mystery).

Anyway, I'm going with her recommended colors, but Givio's colors make me think of French Provincial fabrics, so once the mystery is done, I may make another quilt in French colors. We'll see. It just depends on if I like the finished results.

Can't wait until this starts!!

I've been a lurker for the last couple of Bonnie's mysteries but this year I'll be able to participate! And, I talked to a LQS owner and she's got several people signed up for a group sewing at her shop. Still haven't had time to pick out fabrics but there's still time.

Sew excited!!

Glad you can participate, Suzi... the sewalong at the shop sounds like fun, too. I am usually waiting for those Fridays to see what we are doing next, and then I jump right in.

pretty much only have the scraps left over from donated fabric for my 2 foot tall free dolls for kids with cancer, ETC, but you can bet I'm going to look forward to whatever gets posted on here. Sounds like lots of fun going on.

Enjoy and this 76 year old will lurk and look over your shoulders as you sew. Have a blast.

Two more weeks until the first clue! I posted a picture earlier, but I was not happy with the constant fabric. I've found a few more options, but I'll wait until I see how it is cut before making my final decision.

I like your colors, Splinter. They might even look good with burgundy or red for a constant.
