Alvastitcher, so sorry for your loss.

I love your helper and wish she was closer and could maybe borrow her for a few hours of sewing together.

I have not started putting my step 2 blocks together. Have all the strips sewn together and have been cutting them. I wanted to mix them up. I hope tonight to put a few together to see how they work out. I hope well since I have all the strips together and don't want to switch to a different method.

I enjoy seeing everyone's fabric choices. I decided to use Bonnie's color palette this time and think it is going to very cheery quilt.

Right Karen G. if I had never found Bonnie Hunter, I probably never would have used those easy angle rulers I just had to by way back when - just because they were on sale, or I had a coupon or something...

Same here. I have had the ruler a number of years and had not even unwrapped it!

Brooke, such an endearing photo of your little one, You need to frame that.
Do I spy a bottle tree on the wall between your windows? Cobalt Blue glass is my downfall.

Cobalt Blue glass is also my downfall. *LOL*

We lived in Austria for many years where anything Cobalt Blue was radioactive and, thus, not sold! Known fact! (Another known fact is that eating ice cream in the winter will give you stomach cancer) I learned some very unusual "known facts" that no one outside of Austria seems to know about. :D

We had to get the Cobalt Tiles for our bathroom remodel in Italy. The architect told us the house would be unsaleable ..... we sold to fellow Americans ..........

Meanwhile, when I did occasionally find Cobalt Glass in a thrift store, it was dirt cheap!
:)

I'm sure this has been beat to death already, but I can't wrap my head around clue #1! (Too much new DGD on my mind!)

If I make my HSTs 2.5 inches, they will finish to 2 inches, correct? Then when I add the black and yellow squares, the overall finished size of the block will be 4"x4". Is this right??? Grrrrr...have baby brain...

Thanks!

For clue #1 I used this method of making 1/2 square triangles.

http://www.craftsy.com/blog/2014/01/...are-triangles/

I started with 2 6" squares. When they were done I squared them up to 2 1/2"
When the block is put together it will measure 4 1/2"
After it is in the quilt it will measure 4".

What a wonderful excuse for being befuddled! Congrats!
You are thinking correctly. Your 2.5" HSTs and 2.5" squares will be 4.5x4.5 after you get the block sewn together. It will finish at 4x4 after it is sewn into the quilt.

I really need help!! This is my first BH quilt. I have been sewing for a while and have made a few quilts but so help me, I cannot get the points to line up for the step 2 blocks. I am trying the strip method, was meticulous with the sewing & cutting, everything measured right but the points DO NOT MATCH!!! I cut all 3 strips at 2" each. What in the world am I doing wrong. I'm ready to give up. Thanks for any advice ( I have the ruler ordered but don't have it yet)

I had trouble with the 2" for the neutral too, I changed that to the 1 7/8" and they have been working out fine now. That is the original measurement that was given. Try one and see if it works for you! Good luck.

Windblown, yes those are violin glasses that my mother in law gave me and are my favorite part of the house.
Susan, you will be happy to know that 2 of my 4 children are lefties. I never knew how hard it was for lefties in so many things until I had my son. Very difficult for sports.
Alvastitcher, please accept my condolences. I know it will be hard, but am happy you have quilting to help with your healing process. Please let us know if you need anything.

I am so sorry to hear that, Alva! How utterly devastating. Prayers for you and all of his family....
