jmoore, great job. It is gorgeous.

Anael 03-03-2019 05:43 AM

Yes, another Long Time Gone and Gypsy Wife!! Can't wait to see them come to life!
Sometimes that happens with Kingwell patterns, not wide enough. A small strip won't be noticed, if you don't mention it noone will ever know ;)

Teen 03-03-2019 08:04 AM

Jmoore...it's fantastic. Beautifully done....

Here is the bottom right section. I think it's section 4. All sewn together. I need one block to sew the top right section together. I don't usually have so much difference in what the block pattern says and my actual block. This has not been a beginner pattern for me. If I had not been sewing for many years, it would be difficult. As it is, I think it's a challenging pattern.

Teen 03-03-2019 09:03 AM

I absolutely love all the basket blocks in your creative version. I'm almost inclined to say I like the baskets better than the pattern. it's a garden quilt so I think they fit perfectly. It really is gorgeous!

Anael 03-03-2019 10:58 AM

Oh wow!! It's a gorgeous version of the actual quilt. I think I like yours better!!!!

Teen 03-03-2019 04:25 PM

I keep looking at it and love it more with each viewing, Gail. You have an eye for color ways...I envy that skill..

oksewglad 03-03-2019 04:33 PM

I love watching these quilts come together block by block....thanks for sharing ladies.

Anael 03-04-2019 02:13 AM

I'm finally getting back to the Bakers Dozen and working on one of the border blocks. I've made 3 of the same blocks already but didn't get this one right. Tried and tried and was about to give up and do something else when all of a sudden the light went on..........:D :D :D The center block was turned the wrong way, that's why everything else came out wonky!
My Juki refuses to sew. Only thing I can do is wind bobbins.....no sewing so now I'm using the Bernina. Already contacted the repairman who told me to take off the top casing of the Juki....oh my......I don't know if I dare to do that. Going to try in a few minutes LOL.

Here's the Juki. It's working again!!!!!! Maybe I'm going to apply for a job as repairwoman :D :D

sewingitalltogether 03-04-2019 03:56 AM

Good job!! Ya, my Pfaff is making a strained noise. I think it needs a good cleaning inside.

Anael 03-04-2019 04:07 AM

Thank you! I wouldn't dare to do that with my Brother !!

jmoore 03-04-2019 04:46 AM

Gail, your quilt is lovely...I love all the baskets and flowers. I had to add a strip of yellow grunge into my project to get the sections to fit too. : )

Anael, I searched the Bakers Dozen Quilt Group on FB but couldn’t find your quilt...could you PM me please? I do love the pattern. This thread could get me into trouble, I as not going to jump into another Jen Kingwell pattern so soon. : /

I’m glad you were able to do your own sewing machine repairs. : )

Anael 03-04-2019 05:12 AM

I'll PM you but my Bakers Dozen isn't finished yet. I only posted the blocks I have so far.

oksewglad 03-04-2019 05:24 AM

So what was wrong with the Juki? I'm always amazed how great my machines sound after a good clearing out of lint and a dab of oil in all the right places!

Anael 03-04-2019 05:36 AM

Not sure OK. I think the bobbin winding system got jammed and blocked the sewing system. After wiggling it a bit it worked again.

oksewglad 03-04-2019 05:48 AM

Good to know it was a quick fix!

Anael 03-04-2019 06:16 AM

Yes! The repairman told me to call him as soon as I thought something was wrong or I wasn't able to put it back together again :D :D So I sent him the same picture and told him it's working again. He replied: well done. I"ll send the bill......hahahahaha

Teen 03-04-2019 07:07 AM

Good job, Juki girl!! Much more braver than I. Mine would be in the shop in an hour. Lol. When a sewing machine breaks, it's like losing the refrigerator. I think my sewing machines are an extension of me now. Weird but true. I've been sewing with my new travel Babylock Melody and it is a workhorse. So glad I bought that little cutie...

Anael 03-04-2019 07:52 AM

So happy for you you still can sew even when you've packed all other machines! Sometimes the small ones are the ones you grow fond of.
I remember repairing my first computer. I had a screwdriver in one hand and the phone with my brother on the other end in the other hand. I've never been afraid of doing things like that. I only need to know either what I'm doing or someone telling me go ahead, you can't make it any worse than it already is :D :D

I made all corner blocks of Bakers Dozen today. Only 10 more blocks to go!!

Anael 03-05-2019 03:06 AM

Any of you like Simon and Garfunkel?
Have you heard of A Great Big World? I love 'Where does the time go' .......
I like most of their songs but this one sounds like Simon and Garfunkel :)

Teen 03-05-2019 10:40 AM

Yes,a fan!! "Bridge over troubled water" is my favorite...I love them all..

sewingitalltogether 03-05-2019 04:27 PM

Ok, I think I'm pretty much packed for my retreat tomorrow. Just went through the post about retreats and what to bring. I do have my big pile of scraps back into a big tub. Taking it. Didn't finish Sweet Tea and Green Beans quilt. Still have 5 blocks left. 2 6" blocks and 3 8" blocks. Have my pattern book packed . And my other pattern, it escapes me what it's called. But I'm ready. DH will carry my stuff out to the car. And when I pull up to the unloading door, 2 men are available with those big hotel carts to bring your stuff in. I will post pictures when I get home.

sewingitalltogether 03-05-2019 04:30 PM

Long Time Gone, that's the other pattern I have packed.

Teen 03-05-2019 09:22 PM

Have a great time, Gail. Sounds like you are ready. I hope you are packing the blocks for GTSB....you should show off your work on this gorgeous quilt!!

Anael 03-05-2019 10:43 PM

Enjoy your time at the retreat Gail!! Looking forward to seeing your pictures!

Oh, taking it off of the wall? It's all arranged and so many squares. The girls would love to see it. And if I got those 5 blocks done, then I could assemble the whole top. Let me think about that.

Judith1005 03-06-2019 06:35 AM

Wow SewingItAllTogether, this is coming out so pretty. I love your gray background. Simply beautiful.

It is really cool how your are all doing the same pattern but, your individual flair/choice's makes them all look very different and just as beautiful as the others.

Yep, this would not be me. With my luck, It would probably catch fire when I was done with it. I am suitable impressed Anael. You go girl!

Anael 03-06-2019 06:51 AM

LOL Thanks Judith :D
I always opened up things that didn't work anymore. Most of the time it was beyond repair, at least my repair skills weren't enough hahaha. Sometimes I got it working again, like the Juki or a scanner.

Anael 03-06-2019 06:57 AM

Yesssssssssssss my fabrics are on their way from the USA. I just got an e-mail they sent it off. Hopefully next Wednesday it will be here!

Judith1005 03-06-2019 06:59 AM

Anael, where did you order from?

oksewglad 03-06-2019 07:04 AM

I grew up on S&G..."Old Friends", just one of many favorites!

http://www.songlyrics.com/simon-garf...riends-lyrics/

I love the line..."how terribly strange to be seventy"...my dear SIL turned 70 yesterday!

Anael 03-06-2019 07:44 AM

LOL OK, that's what I was thinking too.....they're both over 70 now. Funny to hear that now.

Judith, I almost always order from Fabric Shack. Great fabrics and excellent customer service.

Judith1005 03-06-2019 09:04 AM

Woah Anael, I think this just became my new favorite online shopping store. I had no idea that it had such a selection. It will take me all day just to go through the categories. That's not even looking at fabric yet.

I am part of the Fabric Moratorium here on the board. I am so going to be in big trouble. It's okay to look right!? lol:D Probably not, but, I'm going to look anyway. I can't get myself in any trouble for a few weeks anyway. It's still several weeks away till a payday for DH.

Anael 03-06-2019 10:09 AM

It's ok to look. How many times do you think I filled the shopping cart and left without ordering? :D :D: D

Anael 03-13-2019 12:37 AM

My fabric is still on it's way from the USA. Hasn't arrived in The Netherlands yet. Like I can't live without it LOL.

Did I tell you I'm going on a vacation, all by myself? For the first time!! Me, myself and I? Yes......leaving May 3rd and back May 10th. I'm staying in the country. If I really don't like it I can go home any time I want.
I already started gathering stuff hahaha! Like a new camera bag. The one I use almost every day is a shoulder bag, not suitable for walking. The other one I have (was given to me) is too heavy so now I have a new to me backpack in a decent size.
If I like going on my own I might plan another one in Autumn.

Judith1005 03-13-2019 06:37 AM

Anael, that's great. I do hope you enjoy yourself. I look forward to hearing about it when you get back.

oksewglad 03-13-2019 03:19 PM

Absolutely nothing wrong with staying in country, Anael..we never see everything in our own backyards.

No school today...melting snow and rain has turned country roads to icy spots or mush depending where you are at. Was supposed to have a sew day with friends. Instead had a sew day with Grands. 10yo has four pillowcases rolls ready to sew cuff to body. Lots of cutting and pinning for her. 13yo has several pieces cut for her quilt. I like to starch and iron first so they spent quite a bit of time doing that before cutting. Hopefully will be sewing this weekend. Good thing I have 2 machines.

Teen 03-13-2019 08:50 PM

Well deserved vacation, my friend! I know you will have a wonderful time exploring and snapping pictures... We expect to see some in an album when you get back..

Enjoy the creative time with your grands, OK... No doubt, they will cherish the memories of your time together. So special!
