Every time I use my GO cutter, I grab one of my scrap boxes and cut some of them, too. I have boxes of squares and HSTs ready - and I'm going to start using them as 'starters' and 'enders' as recommended by '?'

I think I'll go ahead and use my strip dies to cut up some of those fabrics that make me say 'What was I thinking...' to include in the scrap quilt.

I'm about to begin a Thank You quilt for my DD's friend, so I'll get started on that scrap quilt at the same time.

By the way, I figured out why our scraps never completely go away - they're really bunnies in disguise - kind of like the toys in Toy Story that can talk and run around when no one is watching.

Hey, I just checked out Quiltville. What a great article on scraps. I printed it out so I can begin to do something with the bags and bags of scraps I have been saving. Never did a scrap quilt yet. So this ought to be interesting and fun. Thanks.

i am doing a scrap quilt right now and using just what i have .Not cutting into larger than a fat quarter.as long as there is enough to make the pieces for the blocks .it is Patience corners and if I counted right there will be 48 diffferent fabrics in it when i'm done not counting the border.

I just stumbled across this whole concept of storing and using scraps. I've been in my current house for over six years and there are no bedcoverings on the guest room twin beds. I have scraps in plastic bags just willy nilly and I've been wanting to throw them together for that room, and other uses. Since I am the queen of disorganization the tips for storage have me inspired. All this just as soon as I finish DD's wedding quilt which I hope to get to her by her second anniversary which occurs in August.

Just an update on my using donated fabrics to our quilt guild--here is a scrap quilt that I just finished out of fabrics for a child's quilt that will be donated to our local hospital. The pattern is disappearing 4-patch, a pattern I just recently "discovered", and it is just perfect for such a project! (Needless to say, I have "fallen in love" with D4P!!) :lol:

I really needed this.

I have so many fabrics stacked up... but when I want to start a project I always "find" out that I need a new certain fabric that I absolutely must have to complete my new project. lol.

I think I will stick to my scraps and yardage fabrics at home and do some nice quilts.

That's what I did for Christmas presents this year. The pillow covers all came from the scrap box with no new fabrics. All were precut squares, not newly cut from pieces of fabric. Thought I did really well doing that, but don't see any dent in my stash! Have to make more quilts, I guess.
