OK!! I really blew it this a.m. Trying to hurry and get to the quilt show on time and test out this sashing fabric. I think it is too busy to put on the fresh lilacs. i also did not measure correctly and stuck the corners in the wrong place. Could I have your opinions??

These days, so many people cross cut a striped binding, and I think it looks cute that way. Funny in a cheerful way. :-) The key for me is if the fabric look too busy together. That's a downfall of mine! I'm always thinking I've put too many prints together after the block is done, while before it, they seemed okay together. Maybe for that reason, I think the sashes on the lilac quilt look great! They don't seem too busy at all to me.

Marcia (Battleaxe), pretty blocks! Your fresh lilacs is so gorgeous. Is that a line of fabrics that you had, or did you put the fabrics together yourself from stash?

I think the WOW sashing looks great, as do your cornerstones. It will unify once it's everywhere, around all the blocks.

SO jealous of your shop hop and 3 quilt shows! That's enough quilty adventure to keep you busy for a week! Not much goes on around here, except we do have a show coming up in August, in Vicksburg. Counting the days...

Do you have enough of the lilac fabric to do the cornerstones? It's so pretty and I think it could probably be just right. That white just doesn't do it for me.

Marcia, I agree that the white doesn't work. Do you have more of the black like in the center to use in place of the white, and then add the lavender or green corner stones?

This line of fabric came out about 3 years ago and I bought a block of the month from Craft Town in Pekin, INdiana. They were very helpful, but at that time I did not have the skills to put it together and I just tossed it all in a tub and forgot about it until I retired. Then I discovered Bonnie Hunter. i watched videos and watched them repeatedly and finally I found my scant quarter inch seam, an Oliso iron that Missouri Star quilt co. uses.

I finally had the courage to get Fresh Lilacs out and I'm pleasantly surprised.

No I did not put it together. That is one of my worst skills. my father was colorblind and even though I'm not supposed to have it, I flunk one of those tests now and then. I think if my eyes are tired. So I have solved that problem by buying from the full line of someone's fabric. Fresh Lilacs just sang to me and I bought layer cakes and half yard bundles as well as the block of the month. I've run out of some of them and had to shop on ebay to fill in. What this really needs is the off white fabric that came with the block of the month. But I'm out.

Those corner stones were a dark purple, but not the darkest purple.

Something that is out now that is sort of close is Arabella also by Maywood designed by Sue Beaves. I only have a jelly roll. It goes toward the blue.

I'm trying very hard to use up all the scraps. I'm going to be 71 and I figure I have another 25 or so years to use up my stash. My friends roll on the floor when they hear me say that.

But at the quilt show today I just bought patterns and books. Shop hop tomorrow will be different.

I"ll post the pics of the other ones I have made. Thanks so much for all your input.

Marcia, since you have used the WOWs with your other blocks, I don't see any problem in using it for sashing. Maybe that particular block you tried it on looks like it's clashing, because that block has a cream neutral instead of white. But overall, I think the WOW will fade into the background and let your blocks sing! At least you don't have to worry about it just yet. Still plenty of blocks to be made first.
