Can you explain which is the cats cradle block? I'm really interested!

I saw two layouts on the Facebook page I like better than any other. Both used an on-point design with no sashing between the blocks and used the parallelogram blocks in the border. By not using sashing, the aqua (green for me) was much more pronounced throughout the quilt.

I need to get the 25 blocks done and see how the smaller version looks with either of the above layouts.

Thanks for posting the links Belfrybat. Both those ideas for layout are very nice. I'm going to play around and see if by taking out all the lightest of the coral sashing, I can get the secondary pattern to pop more.

I think Krista's catscradle is Bonnie's shaded 4 square.

Pretty block, Amybible....

Krista, I like both of your mock ups. The smaller version is really cool with the double sashing and additional 9 patches. It looks like a 2 block quilt.

I love all the creativity coming out of this group. The pattern was a great 'jumping off point' for a lot of you!

Lovely variations in those links, Belfrybat.
I got a design wall for Christmas and I just hung it up. Yay! My MQ blocks are on it. I can already see this is going to come in so much use!

These are great! Either would look good in a straight setting, too.

Finished all 50! I think I will stay with the original BH layout since this is my 1st mystery and I'm not well experienced with making my own changes to a pattern. However, I'd like to expand the size to accommodate a Queen with a 16" drop (no tuck). Has anyone considered this yet?

As is, it's supposed to finish at 75' x 90' and I think I need to bump that up to approximately 92" x 96". Perhaps adding two columns to the width (4 then 5) and an additional border all the way around which would help add a few more inches to the length. I'm not looking to be precise just close to 92" x 96" and this should do it by adding 9 add'l blocks plus necessary sashing, setting triangles and an extra border.

Besides considering the monster I'd have to quilt on my Juki - any other thoughts or ideas that this newbie isn't thinking about? Thank you in advance

Christine

P.S. I couldn't imagine having made it this far without all of the tips, inspiration and motivation from all of you very talented folks. Thank you - Thank you - Thank you!

Love all of your ideas and variations!

Christine, your blocks are beautiful.

I am happy to report that I have made friends with my geese!! We are getting along quite well. Almost ready for clue 6, however, I will be out of town this weekend, it will have to wait til Monday.

Arrrghh.. Just re-looked at the pattern realizing I would likely have to add two columns that were 5 and 6 blocks on point to get to my desired Queen size. Need to take a peak at my remaining fabric now

D. Henson - Most of my geese looked absolutely perfect, until sewn in... I trimmed at the top and should have trimmed at the bottom of the pair of geese and caused several bull-nosed geese once set. But GramE assured me that my quilt will be loved just the same by the fortunate recipient

Enjoy Clue 6! I've enjoyed each step along the way myself
