UFO Challenge of the Month 2012
#1331
I was able to finish this quilt for my 14yo daughter this afternoon. She chose all the fabrics and started the quilt at least 3 yrs ago and had no desire to finish it. I made it one of my UFOs and now it is done! This is a "6-hr Quilt" by Kay Woods...uses quilt as you go (start in the middle and build out).
Pictures taken before it was washed...doesn't look so wonky now.

A FO for both you and your daughter but YOU get the credit!

I am finally fninishing up my nephew's western graduation quilt as well. I am making the label right now on the embroidery machine while trying to quilt in the hot garage. It was only 90 last night which was a break from Sunday which was 96. DH still is not going to let me move it into the house yet. Winter is easy, I have a special heater out there that warms it up in no time. But no air conditioning in the garage. Maybe, just maybe, it will happen if I fall over from heat exhaustion. I am halfway thru a customer quilt right now. I am anxious to make one of the trout quilts for myself. That is next year. I love working on applique quilts when they have a theme. Hopefully I will be posting another finish this week of my own or at least by next Monday. I am going to do the BOM Star quilt that I actually finished two years ago with an applique center and outer border. I have the back and an idea on how to quilt it so should turn out wonderful, I hope. Wanting to put in fair and quilt show it better.

I agree with Fraew, it is never a 6 hour job. lol, Great Finish. Does she still like the fabrics and pattern she chose? It's funny how your taste changes over time. At least she chose "grow with me" prints.

Yes, this quilt took more than 6-hrs to make it this big, but the technique goes quickly and I use it on most of my quilts...just quilting by rows instead of starting in the middle.
DD does still like the fabrics so that is good. She will enjoy the quilt when it cools off I am sure!
