I generally make a green tomato pie as a labor of love for my DH. I just use my favorite apple pie recipe. He enjoys it the color is much the same as apples in apple pie. I still prefer plan old apple, but it's not bad. I think if I were just served it without knowing it was tomatoes instead of apples I probably wouldn't know the difference. Good Luck with your green tomatoes!!

They taste like tomatoes except a bit sharper, if that makes sense. Dehydrated red tomatoes are more mellow. With a rich broth, the green ones don't overwhelm the soup, they just add a fresh taste.

Fried green tomatoes, mincemeat and relish are all I've ever made with green tomatoes. I used to grow lots of tomatoes. If you want them to ripen at basically the same time, put an apple in the box. The apple gives off a gas that helps the tomatoes ripen. I really works!!

this is good - lots of chopping but cooking takes care of it's self

I use the green tomatoes in my chow chow. It is a southern thing to use what is left in the garden in a sweet/pickled relish. My recipe came from better homes and gardens. It is cut up and left with a pickling salt overnight or for 8 hours. Rinsed and then the vinegar and spices are added, a water bath then it is done. Pretty easy, but, it takes awhile to make. If I didn't make it every year, my friends and family would throw a fit!
