This is made with a hand crank popper. I found mine at a church yard sale for $1.00 (new they go for $30.00). I've since bought 2 more (for kids) for $2.00 and $3.00.

Important....Spray crank type popcorn popper with Pam

1 1/2 T veg oil
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 tsp. kosher salt

Place first 3 ingredients in popper. Cook over med-high heat rapidly turning crank. Once kernels begin to pop reduce heat to low and continue cranking till popping stops. Place in bowl and sprinkle with salt.

Enjoy.

I don't have a picture of it and can't find the camera but it's from Norpro and says "hand-crank popcorn popper" It's a 4 quart capacity popper. It has a wooden handle. Yard sales and thrift stores are good places to find them. Guess no one wants to crank for their popcorn. The three that I have bought were brand new and in the box.

The box is red and white.

This is so good! I've had a crank one for years. Makes great popcorn! You can find the crank-style at Target.

I have a black hand crank popper my Dad gave me years ago . Makes the best corn, We just recently bought a new stove for the cabin which has a glass top and this popper leaves a mess on the stove top - burnt oil. What do you use to clean the stove with. I have been using Cerma Bryte or razor blade.

I have done the same thing in the Stir Crazy popcorn popper. I have found them at yard sales and thrift stores. You add everything at once and wipe it out with a paper towel when done. Has worked for years and doesn't hurt the popper. Best if you turn it into a metal or glass bowl instead of the plastic bowl/top provided with the popper as the sugar will be hot enough to warp the plastic. Ann in TN
