Do you ever toss this salad or is it just strategically removed from the bowl? Can you use miracle whip instead of the mayo with sugar or would that be too sweet or too tart?

I have never tossed (intentionally, that is). I make it in a 9x13, and sort of "cut" it in squares like you would a cake.
I always use MW as that is HD's preference. Can use either shredded cheese or parmesean/romano depending on your likes. I don't always add the sugar, just "frost" the top with the MW using a spatula. Then the bacon, cheese and eggs on top. Yummy...will have to get a head of lettuce soon and make this again.

I have made this often. I also use frozen peas and add a layer of sliced mushrooms. It is delicious and great as you can prepare well ahead.

That is hillarious - I guess the foil fooled the cooks so in it went. How funny!

I have the same recipe and I love it. I also put parmesan cheese and hard boiled eggs on the top before the bacon.
