Does anyone have an easy recipe to make garlic pickle spears?
We have quite a few cucumber plants in our garden this year and won't use them all for salad so i thought if i can find a simple recipe, hubby loves garlic pickles!

My family loves these pickles and they are kept in refrigerator. They don't last long.

Cut cukes in 1/6's and soak overnight in cold water. Use a gallon glass jar and place a layer of dill, onion thinly sliced, cloves of garlic and cukes. Keep repeating layers.
Boil 2 qts. water, 1 qt. white vinegar, 1 1/2 c. sugar and 1/2 c. salt. Pour the brine over the cukes and refrigerate for 24 hours.
Your husband will love them!

I hope these recipes will help you. Wish I lived near you, I'd buy some cukes from you.

Boil for 10 minutes
2 tbls. sugar
3 qts. water
1 1/2 cups vinegar
1/2 cup Kosher Salt (or 1/3c regular)
1 tbls dry tarragon
1 tbls dry chervil (optional and I've never used it)
6 cloves garlic (I use 2 tbls jar garlic)
1 tsp black peppercorns (bruised) (I use ground)
1 large bunch fresh dill (I use 2 tbls dill seed)
18-20 small fresh pickles

wash pickles and cut thin slice from both ends. Make 2 lengthwise cuts (not completely to the ends)
Place pickles in clean glass jars. If using fresh dill add to jar. Gently ladle hot liquid into jars. Let stand on counter overnight. Put in fridge till chilled. Enjoy for weeks.

I do, I do.

2 qts. water
1 qt. vinegar
3/4 c. canning salt
minced garlic (I use the bought minced garlic in a jar)
dill
1/2 tsp. turmeric

Slice cucumbers or use them in spears and pack into clean qt. jars. Add turmeric, and about 1 tsp. of minced garlic to each jar. I also use fresh dill and I put a sprig in the bottom of the jar and another one on top after I get the cucumbers in there. Mix water, vinegar and salt in a pot and bring to a boil. Dip liquid with a ladel and add to jars. Boil lids and rings and seal jars.

I see the pickle recipes and they look great. My Mom is looking for an old recipe that her mother made. I think she called them bread and butter pickles but using prepared mustard instead of mustard seeds. If anyone knows of such a recipe I would surely appreciate getting it to send to my Mom.
