The summer quilt we use has 100% cotton batting. With the cotton top and back the entire quilt "breathes" and we don't perspire under any synthetics.

Thx for the freezer paper trick! I used a table cloth, too, but it had to be removable as I sew in a corner of our walkout basement family room. So, I used some curtain rings and 3M hooks.

This is the best reference book for basic quilting techniques, hand and machine. It's full of cutting charts, how to figure binding and backing - it's great. No patterns, just techniques.
