I made one in a class at my LQS, it took all day (10am-5pm). The instructor sells them for $70.

Ditto. And how do people do this in 7-9 hours? I went to class for 2 1/2 days!! And my materials were $100!! I do not want to ever make another. I still have to top stitch around the top.
Give me a quilt any day! Purse/tote makers are to be admired IMHO
Are these being made with home dec fabric or quilting cotton? Mine seems very bulky at the seams and quilting cotton was used.

The Professional Tote can be made with home dec, quilting cotton or even ultrasuede. There is a Mini Professional Tote available now by Creative Machine that I just started to make. It took several hours to cut and label all the pieces, spent half of yesterday sewing the outer bag and hope to get the lining done today. It may be Mini, but it still takes time. Had made four of the Professional Tote, this will be my second Mini. The first was a gift for my daughter. She loves it and has gotten many compliments on it.

Emmy Sue, I admire your ability to make this tote! I took the class because I liked the finished tote, but had no idea of all it involved!
