I generally do diagonal quilting on most of my 2.5 inch squares quilts but this one was so big (66X80) that wrestling it under under the needle was too much for me. I just did straight line stitching and called it good enough. But for those of you who may some time take on a checkerboard quilt, the diagonal quilting does make the little squares appear to be square-in-a-square with minimal effort. It is particularly good for baby/toddler sized quilts....quick and fool-proof.
Hitting the hay early tonight feeling crummy and have the good old yearly physical tomorrow. Hope the doc can tell me what is going on. Dizzy or more like tipsy, feeling like a slug, cold and I want to nap about three hours after I get up. Time to take the snooze I wanted about 10:00 this morning.
ZuZu and I wish you all a good-night.

Goodnight ZuZu.
When the doc tells you what that is, let me know. I think I have it too!

SBG and Ibex, not pollen or allergies, brain tumor or ear crystals or any of the other scary things that pass through out brains when we don't feel "normal". Diagnosed as a low grade ear infection. Three cheers for amoxicillin. Ready to function without the tipsy feeling or general feeling "crummy".
Now back to my normal comments and progress on projects, well maybe tomorrow anyway. Hope I can push through and make one more block for the Cleopatra's Fan quilt later today. I have been making serious progress with the layout but I need to make a few more blocks to balance the colors of the fan blocks. I promised the owner of the quilt to have the top in her hands by May 1, so I need to keep making progress daily. She will deal with having it long armed. Yeah! I will be happy to see this one go out the door. Lovely block and it is getting easier to make them. Humm, that leaves me about two weeks to get projects done before our Boom Star Blocks arrive. What to do, what to do? Hee-Hee-Hee so many choices.

I cheat on block size. I deliberately cut the outer pieces so they will be about 1/4" longer than needed. I leave them long until the block is fully assembled and then trim it to size. I have a lot of square rulers, from 2.5" up to 12.5" in inch increments. And then I have the largest that is 20.5" square. I depend on my rulers a lot!
Janice - I'm jealous that you've got hummingbirds. I've got three feeders out but have not seen any yet. My DD (leaves on west side of Atlanta) has a few already.

GramE, I definitely have a spare fat 8th. Just PM me your address and I'll send it out tomorrow! Thank you for my lovely block! It's gorgeous!!!

Hi everyone, I'd like to apologize to you for goofing up the block sizes. It seems that some fall short of 12.5 and I've always used a tape measure, which I've been told is not accurate and I see why. I'm sitting in the proverbial "dog house" right now!!!
WMU- I had an ear infection a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't dizzy or anything but it was painful so I had it looked at and also got Amoxicillin- great drug for that. Hope you feel better soon! Your kitty is just precious!!!!!

I finished the my last 3 blocks, one for Cheesehead, one for Michelle Quilts and one for TravelingGramma.
Life has been a whirlwind here. One of our girls (1st grader) has been having trouble with some of her peers at school all year and it's been causing her a lot of stress and tears. Everyday was tears! She has been begging me to homeschool her and I've been trying make her at least finish up the school year. It got too much for her this week and we withdrew her from the school. 😔 I found a highly recommended online homeschool curriculum for her and I'll see how she handles it. I am so hopeful that we see her relax and be happy again! I'm also hoping that I start to see her reading improve with the one-on-one attention. Who knows, maybe I'll homeschool all the kiddos next year, lol!

NZQ, great last blocks! Congratulations on finishing.
I guess I missed something. Lstew, do you run a campground? Or are you talking about one you frequent?
Terriamn, hope hubby is feeling better.
So I guess I overdid it this afternoon with walking. My knee is aching again. It’ll be an evening of rest, elevation and ice. I just treated myself with a little cup of ice cream and Ernie absolutely loved licking the remnants from the cup. I’m now his best friend! lol.
Have a good evening, Stars!

My show and tell - I started these before COVID! Each in its own baggy with the backing material. And then it just sits. In one of the local groups we were putting together the farmers quilt - and I was able to use the large scraps for backing. The Heart was another that was waiting to get quilted.
Two more down - Yea!!

Here is my Checkerboard Rainbow quilt that is mostly novelty prints and fussy cut little squares. Total 2.5s used....1,080. I started it last spring and finished the binding yesterday. It was windy today do the quilt looks a bit wonky, Really it isn't.
Warm and breezy on this fine April day. Just preparation for a temp drop for tomorrow. 60 degrees today and 30/40 degrees tomorrow. Love weather. The local pair of Canada geese have been absent for a few days. That usually means they are nesting. Mother's Day is often little fluff ball reveal day. How to they know that? Clever geese I guess.

Gotta say, the 12.5" square ruler is the BEST for measuring and squaring up our Boom blocks. Now that JoAnn's are liquidating, maybe those of us who don't have a 12.5" ruler can find one at their JoAnn's for a good price. I was in one today and they had about 6 of them. I think they were 50% off.
I couldn't make decent Boom blocks without mine!

That’s a great point about the current discount at JoAnn’s. Thanks, SBG.
Am at PT. What a way to begin the day. Hope to work out the knee. It’s been a rough several days.
Have a good day!
