It's been HOT in Iowa, too. The air conditioner is working overtime. I have to say that the heat is much better than the flooding we have had. The dowtown area was flooded and several buildings were damaged beyond repair. A dam broke just south of us and several more businesses were lost. Many homes were damaged. It is so widespread. It will be years for the recovery.

With air conditioning I don't see how heat is a problem. I worry for the outside workers, it's so dangerous.

Las Vegas Nevada is hot and don't let anyone try to fool you with that 'it's a dry heat'. Bah!

We've had the extreme heat and on top of that, we have thunderstorms off and on just about every other day. Some very bad with loss of electric, flooding and some tornadoes touched down. What is all this coming to?

104 again here. At 7 AM, it was 89, with 71% humidity.
About 4:00 we had thunder, lighting and pouring rain for a bit, and it cooled down considerably. But, towns 3 miles away didn't get a drop.
This is Texas, though, and we're kinda used to the heat.
I think the sadist that invented the heat index is just trying to make people feel worse than they already do.
When you already feel like a fried egg, does it really matter if you are frying at 108 or 115?

It was only in the middle 80's here today, but the humidity is still awful! I don't wish for snow tho. Would rather suffer through this!

Really hot here in n.central Fl.
We're used to hot summers too, but this is the most awful! The humidity makes it much, much worse!
I recently went to Northern Italy to visit my son and his family. They were suffering with the hottest heat wave in years. But here's the worst part, there was NO air conditioning there anyplace! Not in the house, not in the stores, not even in the hospital! I thought I'd suffocate with the heat before I got home to lovely, air conditioned, Florida. Here, in this kind of heat, we go from air conditioned car to air conditioned store, and back to air conditioned home. It's sort of like up north in the winter with the heating. 8-)
