It has been awhile since I have checked in here! Wow, your quilt is a knock-out! I can only imagine the statement it makes when hanging on the wall! It looks great, Ruth!

My PH quilt is still at the LA's. She is doing it for me no charge in exchange for my DH's helping her and her DH. I knew it would be awhile, but, I am getting ready to see it. I like to hand quilt but the method I used made the blocks very thick for hand work. The same LA is basting a queen sized quilt for me to hand quilt for a friend.

Hello, again, Deecee! I went to pick up my PH quilt today!!!! It is beautiful! Can you believe I had the nerve to tell my LA quilter friend that it is amazing how much quilting, in this case, machine quilting, can enhance the quilt!?!? We chose a side to side pattern that interlocks and I am soooooo pleased. Now, having said all of this, I am not taking pictures yet! I am going to bind it starting tomorrow then I will take pictures. This is just a teaser!

To make matters worse about waiting, I cleaned my sewing room and rearranged it recently and I remember putting the black that I need for the binding in a . . . . . safe place . . . . . . so safe that I can not find it! I became frustrated and gave up the search for the time being. More on the saga later!

Hope things are well with you and your DH. We had a good summer but, I always welcome the change of seasons. How was your winter season?

Putting things in a safe place can be plain dangerous! I put some fabric away for binding another project and then gave it to my daughter who was looking in my stash for something, forgetting it was already earmarked.

I have finished my sister's quilt and won't start another until I finish PH. I do have some small stuff that I will work on at the same time though.

Our winter has been continual excessive rain. Trees that are more than 50 years old and 30 ft high are just falling out of the ground because the wet has rotted their roots and the ground is so soft they can't stay upright. Two in front of our house have fallen away from us but through neighbours fences and brought power lines down and two smaller ones in our back yard have started to slip over but were held up by foliage from adjoining trees so we were able to have them felled safely.

I'm just glad Spring has arrived - mind you, we had hail yesterday and light snow on the mountains an hour from here. It's 7.30a.m. and the sun is shining now though.

We had the last of our falling trees felled yesterday (before the hail) and all our extremely high hedges pruned, so now we have a wet mess to try and clean up - the bulk of it was chipped and removed though. I need a few dry days to make the job a bit easier. I'll just have to do it bit by bit as I get the time around work and other commitments.

It's funny how we are ready for a change by the time the next season is due, whatever it is.

I just 20 minutes ago finished stitching the binding on my PH quilt! I immediately went outside to take some pictures and then took it into the bedroom and hung it up on the wall above our bed. I think it looks wonderful. The quilt pattern we chose has swirls which I think greatly accentuates the straight lines of the quilt.

Deecee, I urge you to work on your PH quilt. I can only imagine how you will be so pleased and love it!

Absolutely beautiful Judith and your quilter has also done a fabulous job. The all over design you have chosen looks wonderful. I am not sure my domestic machine will go through some of the thicknesses so am still thinking on the quilting.

The star settings give the quilt it such a different look. I didn't do the stars - I have done the 25 blocks and didn't want to make it any larger but they certainly add a stunning effect.

I love that backing fabric too.

O.K. I must get back to mine now. You have given me added incentive to get it done.

Deecee, your winter sounds a bit of a trial! Our summer was a bit warmer than what we have experienced the last 4 years we have lived here. We also had (and still can have) a bit of smoke from wildfires. I am so ready for a change of the seasons!

I took my quilt to the LA for the reason you talked about. I used a method for the centers that uses thick applique foundation and when you wash the quilt the foundation softens greatly so you can't tell it is there. The problem is that I obviously don't wash before quilting! When I brought the quilt home I finally decided to hang it above our bed so I didn't feel I had to wash it now just to hang it. Margie, my LA artist, had to spray the centers with fabric softener water to allow the machine to go through it well. I can't say enough about Margie and her work!

I am very excited to see what your quilt will look like without the star surrounding the blocks. I did debate about the stars, too. I think they turned out well . . . . . but, I don't think they are the only way to go!

I am keeping up with the Quilts for Rosie project here on the board. I asked a friend to join me and we are working each at home and coming together for me to take pictures and I post them for her and I. The blocks are paper-pieced which I have done some of ~ but, that doesn't mean these are a piece of cake! I am trying to use charm squares which causes a bit of figuring.

Where are you on the Heart squares? Someone posted about their squares recently and they are lovely.
