Qbee, I love your idea!! something different, and maybe an orginal idea. Gets my vote.

Houses or lighthouses are good ideas.

more than one BOM can be planned.
I will pass on stars, I already have one in progress and another to start in Jan.

Then I was reading about all the women who have overcome cancer, etc. Anyway...then I started thinking about how many of us, myself included, have such fond memories of our grandmother's (or mother's) quilting. What about a BOM with blocks that relate to Moms or Grandmothers? I found all these in like no time:

I don't think of my Mom at all when looking at any quilt block. She didn't quilt. I never can figure out how some blocks get their name.

If that is the route we want to take, why don't we just make a block that identify's a state -- Virginia, Tenessee, Texas, etc. That would give the star people stars, the state people states, etc. It leave the houses and buildings out but ...

Gday, I have another suggestion for you all.

Why doesn't the Quilting Board Members/contributors etc... come up with there own "original" BOM (Not sure if they have done this yet) Maybe each member suggest there favourite block and we do that. Whether it be Stars, Houses, States, etc.

That way, we get a diversity of all countries and everyone here on this quilting board a challenge. would need to state from the beginning size of block to create.

Just a suggestion. :)

I have missed the quilting board this w/end, i couldn't get onto the site for 2 days. grrrrrrrrrr.

BOM for a year is 12 blocks; narrow the participants down to 12 to choose blocks with no theme?

This is true, there is a lot of people on the QB site isn't there. Hmmm. We could be going for 12+years to fit everyone in. We could create a Guinness Book record. LOL. :)
