    Maureen,

Welcome to the group! We have a terrific group developing and everyone's blocks sound so yummy!

Some of us have formed a little sub-group called the JTG as we have Jumped the Gun and already are working on ours. However, this doesn't mean much of anything except that we don't wait well.

At the bottom of every page, here on the Board, is a line of links. At the right end is a link called "Topic List." If you click on it, you will get a list of topics, & the first one is our very own AOTH! We didn't do anything special to get first place listing - the list is alphabetical! Click on it & you will see every thread that relates to AOTH, including some threads that show other pictures of AOTH quilts. There are Tutorials, pictures, you name it, it's probably there. Each block of AOTH will have it's own photo page. There is a gallery thread & an gallery discussion thread.

Our group can get a bit chatty, but don't let that get to you - we all become friends through this Board. If we are not chatting here, you can usually find us "sitting 'round Lesley's(Lacelady' PDA) kitchen table having a cuppa."

Sandpat (Patti) & I are managers of this topic, so we may see a thread that relates to AOTH & add it to our topic. If you see a thread that we missed, let us know & we'll add it. Butterflyspain (Elle) is a Moderator & can work wonders here on the Board. PatriceJ is the Top Dog moderator & has been such a wonderful help in getting this adventure up & running.

OK, that about sums up what's happening here at this time. Fasten your seatbelt & hold on for the ride of your life! WE're gonna have fuuunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!

74 is amazing! And the thing is, is that it's still over a month before it officially starts.

I'm still loving the deep blue and purple backgrounds. Sort of wish I would have gone with one of those, but after buying 10 yards of the denim blue, I "ain't" gonna change.

I would like to join your group. I probably won't JTG, since I don't have anything but the book. I bought the book a while ago and had some friends tell me it would be difficult to do, so I put the book aside. I love needle turn applique, but have trouble with inside points. I fret that there isn't enough seam allowance and that the fabric will fray in that area. I don't know what to do about it. I feel way behind since there are already so many blocks made. Will we be doing 1 block a month and will there be any special order as to which blocks we do.

Welcome to the group Maureen and toomanyufo's! This group is growing and we are gonna have so much fun! Well, we already are

Toomany..(ok, thats a mouthful, we'll have to come up with something else to call you)..I struggle with the "innies" too..as a matter of fact, I'm working on block # 26 right now and messing up those innies ..I'm going to use fray check and I'm adding a few extra stitches at those points and then I'll pray that it stays. Lesley can help us though I bet...

I watched a Karen Kay Buckley video last night and her suggestion for the innie points seems to work really well. I have done half a dozen today the way she suggested and they certainly look much better and more stable than all the others I have done. I think we all know we're supposed to take some extra stitches right at the inner point. Her suggestion is that you stitch to within a couple of stitches of the inner point before you cut to the point. Make the cut as exactly in the center as you can so each side of the point has the same amount of fabric (not much!) Then you run your needle from just the other side of the point to where you have finished stitching, turning under what seam allowance you have. Take the remaining stitches to get to the point. At the point itself, you take 3 stitches, one on the right side of the point, one directly at the point and one to the left of the point. The trick is that when you take these 3 stitches you don't stitch into the background fabric, you only take the stitches in the applique piece itself. And you take a little tug on the stitches to pull the fabric tight. Then you start stitching up the other side. I noticed on the ones I did this way that I don't have the fraying that I've seen in my other pieces where I took all the stitches into the background fabric.

I don't know if I've explained it very well, but it works. You don't want to make the stitches very deep, just a couple of threads worth. Try it and see if it helps.

Oh, I forgot to say welcome to Toomanyufo's. You'll love this group.
