I am sorry that you are going through this. I am going through it as well. The recession has hit our family really hard. I try to use up my fabric as soon as I buy it so that it doesn't look like I am only collecting fabric. I only buy cheap fabric from Goodwill or buy things from Goodwill that I can cut up for fabric, buttons etc. I refuse to stop quilting. It has taken some creativity to continue after losing my job. I took some of his old shirts and cut the pockets of of them and made a quilt with them. That at least made him laugh. Good luck.

I'm feel the same way. There are some wives that I know that has to check with their husbands first before they can make a decision about anything. They have to drag them along to grocery shop too.

Perhaps we should heed the words of the old Indian proverb: Don't criticize until we've walked a mile in his moccasins. We just don't know the circumstances.

I'm not criticizing I'm asking why do some women need their husbands approving nod. That just floors me to see a woman act like that. But then again, men who expect that, don't marry women who won't expect to give it to them :?

Things were really different back in the 50's, we stayed home and the men paid the bills and bought the groceries and everything else, not like in the movies where everything was wine and roses, Today, women stay for various reasons not always good but we stayed, and some still stay for reasons we do not talk about, If you have never been there you would not understand, I am married to a wonderful husband after living 53 years with a verbal abusive man who died at age 70 from cancer so I have been there , done that, and I understand you ladies,My friends all thought my first husband was great , little did they know :?

My husband would rather have me shopping at the fabric store than buying things in the mall it saves him money. Least a quilt takes me awhile to make and if you shop in the mall it takes 1 hr.to find a quilt bedspread then the fun is over.

My husband thinks I have too much quilting stuff to begin with, but he never complains about how much I spend. I am always getting gift cards to various fabric shops so I just say "I used a gift card". I don't think he has any idea of what I spend and if the bag is a little large, I wait until he is not around to bring it in.
