I think all of us who posted requests at WalMart's website comments section asking that they not take away the fabric sections should now send them a 'thank you' as well.

I so hope we get it back at our Wal Mart! I will definitely still shop at my LQSs but it was still fun to look through the fabric dept. when I got groceries. It will be nice to have access to patterns again and accessories. I have to go 50 miles to have access to patterns now. Also, when making charity quilts or experimenting with a new technique, you don't feel so made when it isn't $9+ a yard!

our local walmart has really amazing fabric now, when all the LQS went out of business in the area they really pumped up the quality and the stock to meet the need of the additional consumers now.

my opinion has changed on the quality of walmart fabric at least in my area - i have some fabric from Connecting Threads that is most loved on this forum and the quality from CT is extremely inferior to the quality i can get at my local walmart and at half the price.

Amen!! I am so glad to hear someone who doesn't say that LQS is always superior to Wal-Mart. I have gotten wonderful fabric at Wal-Mart and some not so great fabric at our highly respected LQS. There is good fabric everywhere. IMHO

My Wal-Mart didn't close its fabric dep but they down sized it to 2 small isles. What a mess fabric piled on top of each other can't see fabric stuffed every where, and next door the pet dep is huge big wide isles hope they down size that and give fabric more room. Wal-Marts isn't one of my favorie places but not much choice here unless you want to drive for miles.
